I'ce recently discovered how good coloured barriers can look. I've used a lot of them on my latest map but it seems that I've possibly run out of them because when I try to make a new one, even when 'show' is selected, the barrier is not visible outside of forge mode. Is there a limit to the amount of visible barriers you can use or is forge just being glitchy on me?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Ben

you could be on to something. there may be a limit.

You could do a (relatively) quick test. Create a new blank map with these types of barriers/objects. Continue adding them until they stop appearing. That's your number (and report back please!)

Good thinking! I'll do that shortly and let you know what happens

Ok! I carried out the experiment and visible barriers stop being visible once you pass 256 of them.

This is weird though, because I don't feel like I've used anywhere near that many barriers. But saying that, my forge does this glitchy thing where instead of copying an object once, it'll create like ten copies and maybe that's eluded me somewhere in the map.

But yeah, as far as I can tell the answer is 256 visible barriers before they no longer show up

that's good info. Thanks for doing that!

Do you feel like the piece count is higher than it should be? If you are using the same piece for all of a lot of these, you could investigate this by selecting a piece and from the menu, click "Select all of". See if that number seems too high for what you know you intended to have. You can also do "Select scripted" from the Map menu... if they have scripts that might help you find any errant pieces.

On PC, there is a side-effect of when you are in precision mode and holding down a couple keys, including 'D', it will often duplicate a piece if you don't do it just right. I'ts not a glitch, but a part of the fact that it is so hard to do the button combo. Maybe the controller has something similar?

I'm not too sure if it's me doing something stupid or not, but me doing something is entirely plausible

I don't use precision mode though tbh so I doubt it's that. Who knows!

Oh and in hindsight I have used a lot of those barriers. A good work around if you run out (and if you're using the barriers for cool trims) is to use blocks with the really bright overlay (forgot its name) and merge them with the object you want to put the trim on. Very useful to conserve barrier usage
