Excuse me good sir, I happened to notice that you have very few blocks placed. Would you perhaps consider refraining from posting such unrequited progress until more thorough thought and concepts have been established? Cheers, @SaltyKoala /s
Because this is a cathedral The building you've made is composed of a fancy hallway, an overlook, a wooden basement, an outdoor greek-ish area where the lift is, and a huuuuuuge rock formation with arching stone straight out of Dark Soul's Anor Londo. It's a cool map. But it's not a cathedral.
In the next 24 hours, a 3 Legged Goat was found dead on the floor of his family room, laying just in front of a simmering fireplace. In his hand, a single crumpled piece of paper. The writing, brief, shared his thoughts only moments before his suicide. The hatred he felt. The sorrow that haunted him. The world he was leaving behind; all summed up within a few words. "**** dogs. Crabs. And forge kids." His name was rarely brought up past that day, his memories and projects still lurking above the mantle. Still, and dusty they lay incomplete - a momento to what could have been. If Soul Flame wasn't such a gigantic douche.
Saw that 343 vid in my recommended a few hours after it was uploaded. Pretty good for the most part, never really got bored. But I have to say he does repeat himself quite a lot when initially expressing his concern on a specific subject (More of a gripe, but it's noticeable). Also I really don't agree with his philosophy about radar, but I think that's due to me playing much more comp than casual. Actually no, **** radar.
Wut That is an incredibly ambiguous, if not arbitrary definition, but I'll play ball. In your image, I see a hallway - or nave - with large windows, two aisles, and a ribbed vaulted ceiling. I have that on my map, and I chose to curve the hallway to make it more interesting for gameplay. Cathedrals also have buttresses connected by flying buttresses. I have those on my map, and I chose to attach it to terrain to save objects. Cathedrals have elaborate chandeliers and often tiled or carpeted flooring. I have that on my map. Aisles, arcades, and stained glass windows? I have those too! Here's a diagram for all these terms. And I'm sure you'll recognize this image of a not cathedral Funny, it looks an awful lot like my map, and I even have a dome. You know what my map doesn't have? Gargoyles, a giant ass staircase, and a list of a million other things that aren't possible in Forge. Fortunately however, I managed to make a convincing self contained structure that feels like one, and doesn't play poorly (insofar as I can tell). I never implied I was making a religious cathedral for worship complete with rows of benches and a pulpit. It's simply a fantastical cathedral comprised of gothic architecture that I find interesting, and haven't seen much of in this game. It'll be much more apparent when I clean the map up, which I don't plan on doing until I'm sure the layout is final. You played the map a few times, so I would appreciate feedback with actual substance, or at the very least a more entertaining roast.
IS THIS A ****ING RAGS RIPOFF!? HOW DARE HE! but he does have a great case bUT HE RIPPED OFF RAGS!! HERESY!
Damage Boost is the best power up in the game and the Sentinel Beam is the only pick up weapon that isn't complete bullshit. I think it's fair and frankly the most inoffensive 2v2 weapon set, and I've placed them in spots where "risk vs reward" actually applies correctly. Here's to hoping 343 makes more of the sandbox viable for 2v2 this fall. I'd love to have more pickups on my maps, but as of right now, nothing is fun to fight against.
