All these rules are stupid The community is dormant and the game is dead Just make maps and pick the best ones, and don't be wishy washy about why they are so.
1. I'd expect more info on the tournament later. I'd be surprised if we hear anything before the submission period is over, and probably closer to the time the results are finalized (so in like 2-3 months, lol). 2. I'm 100% sure you'd still be able to compete.
do you so even go as far to depict relevant of the order by of which you could have said towards true something do like?
All of them -Maps made before X date are not eligible --But you could just as easily take the exact same layout and change the aesthetics or one detail and it'll be fine ---Unless the judges have already seen the map then they'll disqualify you ----But the judges aren't allowed to even look at maps beforehand so they can't say whether it passes or not I'm honestly expecting 12 viable entries so all the smoke and mirrors this late in the game seems unnecessary.
I mean at some point it has to based on the honor rule. Accepting old maps that have had wayyy longer than 6 weeks to refine is actually unfair. Also I didn't know that judges aren't allowed to look at maps before submission but I'm telling you right now that I'm going to break that rule. All I do is look at maps, I just won't give feedback. other than that there really aren't that many rules
I didn't even read the rules but here's my take. I don't care if you've been working on the map forever because I have no way of proving it or knowing, so as long as it's not posted its fine by me. I'd like to help people with their maps, but that would mean I should help EVERYONE with their maps. And not only does that not make sense, but not everyone has the same access to me. Someone who's never talked to me would have a harder time getting me to look at their map then xandrith would which isn't really fair to them. So I don't even want to look at peoples maps. You can say it doesn't matter because the forge community is small, but when there's $1000 on the line - it matters. I've bitched about horrible judging enough times to know what not to do to give everyone a fair chance. Recap -I don't care how old the map as so long as it's not posted -I won't give any feedback, I hope the other judges do the same -Please please please be VERY tactful about what weapons go on the map -I'll stream hopefully every game. And give feedback on all the hard choices Things up in the air -prize money distribution, it's looking like a 1st - 3rd and not top 5. -settings. But for now design for no AR no radar
Can we get a judge up in here...to decide which rules these judges are using, lol. Seriously though, it would be nice to get a consensus on these things instead of your individual opinions. The bit about how far back maps can originate from would definitely impact me, since I have some unposted maps that were only ever playtested once or twice. Is it today, yesterday, last week, or unlimited as long as it hasn't been posted? This would definitely impact how I spend my time, which is in short supply. On the subject of judge protocol, I always preferred the approach Multi is planning, for all the reason he stated, plus I didn't want to form a negative opinion of a map before it was finalized and risk having it affect my judgement of it after it had been polished. I've seen other people be really active in helping people with maps during a contest, and then still be able to judge the maps in a way that seemed unbiased to me. So I think it could work either way, and ultimately it doesn't make much difference how the judges approach it during the submission period, as long as it doesn't impact their judging during the judging period.
That's up to you if you want to have autos on your map... Though i might add, treat them like tier 2-3 weapon pick ups
This contest is a bad idea. Forge contests are bad. Besides that, 343i is right in the middle of a sandbox update. This contest will only make it more difficult for them to get the feedback they need in order to improve the game.
You say it's a bad idea but we'll see more people online forging, posting maps in the next 6 weeks then we've seen in the past 6 months. We can already see how it's benefited site activity. Save me your pity mentality of how competition is evil when your recommendation was literally to pay people to take forge lessons. 343 never has asked for feedback, taken feedback, implemented that feedback, responded to feedback AFTER changes, and they never will. Hell this update is coming out 2 years after launch and it's our first sandbox balance. You live in a delusional world.
There has been a lot of criticism in the past about how contests were judged. The loudest criticism came from people who are now judges. So I don't care how they go about it, I just have very high expectations for this contest.
Would it possible for the Judges to elaborate on the HCS settings and game modes? They seem to constantly be changing so I am unsure of what they are at this point. Also, please specify some game types that are 'HCS' because as of right now the rules don't stop anyone from making a 1v1 Mini-game/ Infection/ Breakout / SWAT variant with HCS settings.
Also, I'm new to ideal core 1v1 weapon selection. Is there a post anywhere highlighting good power weapon/up combinations for 1v1's? I have a feeling sticking a rocket launcher or overshield on the map will piss people off --- Double Post Merged, Aug 22, 2017 --- Honestly, as soon as the new Assassin's Creed game or Sea of Thieves comes out, I'm dropping halo like its hot. Drop it like its hot.
As long as the contest produces quality winning maps that obviously aren't picked just because the judges are friends with certain people, what is there really to complain about?
