Hey @Xandrith about the 1v1 contest. I've started building before the official thread today. Is that ok? I'm confused about the start.
You should be fine. I would personally track down and punch someone if they actually disqualified you for starting one day early. Seriously, though. Any map that was started after the 1v1 contest was first being discussed in the Waywo (like 8 days ago) should be good to go.
I second what goat said. I need more of a finished foundation to even begin reading what youre doing. I also just generally suck at comprehension until i can run around on the map for a while.
Yeah, your layouts have actually been a huge brain expander/inspiration lately. You're like our own r/fantasy worlds --- Double Post Merged, Aug 21, 2017 --- I gotcha. I'm gonna have very little time to work on this 1v1 contest so I'm trying to do quick layouts before I commit. I will adjust my preview products accordingly
Forgot about this post. It's hard for anyone to share advice unless you really determine what you want to play on it. Almost any map can "play infection" but designing a dedicated infection map is obviously a different experience, and even moreso for slayer depending your intended player count.
I like how natural it looks, those coral reef looking rock flats are particularly neat Is it public? Kinda want to explore given your claim about the gameplay possibilities
@Chronmeister I'll do a walkthrough with commentary (when/if I polish this map up to an acceptable state) since I know you're into the gothic architecture from Dark Souls and stuff.
@taralynn117 since you are fresh meat but have some amount of agency, how would you like your criticism, on a scale of steak - tartare being none whatsoever, and charbroiled being devastatingly destructive of the connective tissues and juices. because I think you have some neat ideas/outcomes that seem to have been sidelined by your artistic vision - the above question also depends on how seriously you want to take forging/level design from a gameplay standpoint
Yes it is! I honestly think that it needs tweaking, because when you are infected the screen is greenish color + the under water color of the map is greenish blue = A little hard to see where you are.
@MultiLockOn At the start and at like 7:20 ... "the most vertical map in the game"... Map has like zero verticality lol
I totally agree with you. I definitely have tried infection on it a few times, but after further game play, infection may not be the best game mode for it because it is underwater and the screen is already a bluish green color. (Bluish green map color + greenish infected color = more difficult to figure out where you are)
"you're always in someone's sightline/frame of vision" "you can just jump over something to get out of the way" "focusing on slowing down gameplay" "everyone's going to be over at that brick wall" "you can't chokepoint everything" "you'll have a lot of fun" "rock paper scissors is something we really try to have in all our maps" >clambers as interesting as it is for gameplay to be surprised by a black woman in a Wermacht, SS, or Blackshirt uniform running at me with a bayonet from around a beautifully rendered 4k crumbly wall by a Mediterranean vista that features prickly pears, I don't think this is the game for me
This is the first time I have EVER made anything in forge, I honestly was teaching myself as I was going how to do this and that. It has been a hard learning experience for sure. I need criticism that details what kind of things make it bad and what make it good. I want to try and make another forge map again, with a distinct vision this time, but I definitely don't want to keep making the same mistakes.
