I would say the remedy to this is to make sure youve properly tested your map with other players who may not have a newer model console. If you or anyone else isnt capable of finding someone then id be glad to double check the performance of your map prior to the submission date. I am on a day one console.
The same way you come up with any map: Inspiration. Look up games that are more geared toward individual player skill. Look at how the level design differs from modern Halo level design. Retain the same characteristics that makes the 1v1 play fun and interesting, while acknowledging the differences in mechanics.
I think everyone will try to avoid framerate, but with how confusing it would be to keep track of everyone's Xbox model I think it should be adjusted during the judging process. This will give newer forger's some leeway as well as free up time and mind space for the judges and competitors
I recommend having this contest start before Destiny 2 releases. ________________________________________ I highly disagree with the idea of waiting for forgers to fix performance issues with their maps. If this was a BTB map contest then I would understand, but it isn't difficult to make a 1v1 map that doesn't drop frames, nor would it take long to fix. Second, fixing framerates will have a negative impact on map aethedics/detail. So what's the point of rating a maps art if it's going to be changed? Even if the changes are hardly noticeable, Their should be a strict cut-off date before judging begins.
I don't think performance drops should completely disqualify a map. I'll consider it when judging, but only if it proves a detriment to gameplay. Otherwise, performance drops of some sort are pretty much guaranteed if the map is pushing the object limit.
I think this is good, but people should submit maps with the framerate that they feel is appropriate, and be judged accordingly. I don't think they should submit, fix while everyone waits, then resubmit.
Frame rate is gonna drop no matter what. I'm playing with a 1070 and i7 6700k both overclocked and STILL get frame drops. It makes no sense. I'm not even using max settings, either. It's ridiculous. Edit: "Sad."
its almost 2018 who the **** cares about framedrops on forge maps when nobody is playing them seriously and theyre not going into matchmaking? i havent played a decent map in this game that doesn't have performance issues unless it's an aesthetically simple remake.
IMPORTANT NOTICE! Warholic has agreed to outsource the last judge as a public vote. With so many good candidates, who can choose really? @D4rkDeath @Blaze @Sethiroth @Shooty Person @SecretSchnitzel The voting will remain open until Sunday, so let's try to get these last details hammered out. So far the only on the fence issue we have right now is the framerate discussion
