    Yeah but that doesn't reflect your real life behavior, because all you do IRL is sit at a desk for hours on end - that's not very creative huhuhuhuh

    Like that's easy.

    Project 1. 2v2, Underground fantasy map. Will meet art goals, but I don't know how to make room based set pieces without making the map room based.
    Project 2. 4v4, Forerunner volcanic map. Don't want to work on it.
    Project 3. 2v2, Sangheli temple map. Most likely wont get finished because Tidal Clear has broken lighting
    Project 4. 2v2, Sci Fi Urban map. Don't have a layout and don't feel like working on it.
    Project 5. 4v4, Martian industrial map. Don't have a layout.
    Project 6. 2v2, Fantasy catwalk dungeon. Too similar visually to some of my other maps
    Project 7. 2v2, Another fantasy catwalk, except outdoors. Parts of it bled into other maps.
    Project 8. 4v4, Covenant/Sangheli map in a cove. Again, Tidal Clear's broken lighting causes problems and don't have a layout.
    Project 9. 2v2, Fantasy castle/village map. Fog doesn't work on Glacier so I can't do it because I can't hide the skybox
    Project 10. 2v2, 4 room Vex layout. Could be repurposed I guess.
    Project 11. 2v2, A 3x3 Vex layout that could also be repurposed.
    Project 12. 2v2, Fantasy island temple map. Was symmetric and didn't have enough substantial playspace
    Project 13. 4v4, Forerunner sym. First map I made in this game. 'Nuff said.
    Project 14. 2v2, Indoor Forerunner map. The layout is flexible but it works best as a Forerunner map, which I don't feel like doing.
    Project 15. 2v2, fantasy island map that's probably possible, but don't know how to fix the layout
    Project 16. 4v4, fantasy map. There's a decent layout for it but don't know what art to use.
    Project 17. 4v4, fantasy island map that's an alternate take on Project 15. Haven't figured out a layout.
    Project 18. 2v2, Sci-Fi volcano map. Don't have a layout but it's most likely scrapped.
    Project 19. 2v2, Fantasy ice cavern. Don't know what architecture to use.
    Project 20. 2v2, Symmetric promethean map, one of the first i built in the game. Doesn't have a layout and nobody appreciates this art style anymore anyway.
    Project 21. 2v2/4v4, Indoor Human/Urban map. Don't really have a layout for it and it's not that fun to work on.
    Project 22. 4v4, Fantasy map in a monastery. Snow looks like **** in this game so it's not happening.
    Project 23. 2v2, Lunar map. Don't have a layout
    Project 24. 2v2, Fantasy volcano map. Doesn't have a layout.
    Project 25. 2v2, A different take on the autumnal castle theme. Layout was meh.
    Project 26. 2v2, Fantasy grove map. Layout is basically done but I don't like the art and am not sure the design is what the map should be.
    Project 27. 4v4, Snowy Covenant map. Don't really want to work on it.
    Project 28. 2v2, Underwater reef/shipwreck map. Meh.
    Project 29. 2v2/4v4, Sci Fi map featuring a crashed ship. The current design is more interesting than what the design will most likely end up being, and therefore don't feel like fixing it
    Project 30. 2v2, an old scrapped terrain layout. Probably too repetitive to revive.
    Project 31. 2v2, Single atrium volcanic map. Layout is flexible but don't really want to make a single atrium map.
    Project 32. 4v4, Symmetric Sangheli map. Don't feel like making it.
    Project 33. 2v2, Asymmetric Sangheli map. Don't feel like fixing it.
    Project 34. 8v8, Sci Fi map in martian desert. Don't feel like designing it.
    Project 35. 2v2, A really old chinese mountainesque fantasy concept that doesn't interest me enough to design.
    Project 36. 2v2, A fantasy map that is based around a hallway shape. Basically epitaph. Haven't figured out a design.
    Project 37. 2v2, Industrial catwalk map. Couldn't come up with a layout
    Project 38. 4v4, Underwater research base. Would most likely end up being room based which I don't want to do.
    Project 39. 2v2, Small fantasy symm. Really weird design that I don't think would work.
    Project 40. 4v4, A bigger, more vertical version of the map above. Don't really feel like working on it.
    Project 41. 4v4, Fantasy library. Was symmetric but don't have a layout.
    Project 42. 2v2, Fantasy pyramid map. Too hard to design.
    Project 43. 2v2, Fantasy cathedral on snowy hill. Layout has been hacked up a million times
    Project 44. 2v2, Fantasy map inside spider cavern. Layout is 3sweaty5me
    Project 45. 8v8, symmetric urban city map. Not that fun to work on.
    Project 46. 2v2, Symmetric Covenant map. Because we need more of those.


    Those are my non-coforges.

    Maybe you should get/put together a computer good enough to make maps in Hammer World Editor for Source. It's worth it.

    Also: you can build it for around $300. Get a $100 dell off of Craigslist and $200 graphics card and you're good. just make sure you get more than 3gb of VRAM

    I like the conceptual cinematography of design where you create the world, establish the mood and composite the shots. Forge is an easy way to flex those muscles. If I was Forging because I liked Halo, I wouldn't care about those things and I've had made at least 10 of those maps. If I was forging because I liked level design, then I would have used a real editor instead of duplo blocks.

    I'm not forging to appease halo kids or design snobs. But months have gone by and almost all of those maps are still uncontested, so it would be nice to finish at least one of these instead of watch it sit there.

    Yea 15 is one of the ones i'll be most disappointed to let sit on my files. I feel like what I want out of the gameplay though is holding the design back.

    The goat I once know wouldn't run from a challenge ;)

    Honestly man, Your maps are pretty sick. Maybe do what a chunk did and give your maps out for coforges. People who feel inspired by one would finish it for u.

    (P.S. If you do this, I call scar and the one map with an alien ship in a desert)

    They're not excuses, they are roadblocks.

    If I don't have the right environment or proper lighting, the map isn't going to get made.
    If it's too expensive to pull off convincingly, it obviously isn't going to get made.
    If I can't think of a layout for the intended gameplay, it's definitely not going to get made.

    You would think at this point that I would have been contracting the maps out, but honestly most of those maps are extremely difficult to design.

    Fortunately for you, Scar isn't one of them. The current design has an endless amount of problems, so I don't really care what happens to it as long as the premise is respected. But the composition will probably be lost in translation.

    Also, the goat you once knew made symmetric 4v4 Forerunner maps for 4 years. It's literally the last thing I want to do these days since we don't have any interesting gametypes for it.
