High Garden is just about finished. Should be ready soon. --- Double Post Merged, Aug 7, 2017 --- Oh and @WARHOLIC for Pool B, I'm working on a 2v2 that I think might be my best core map yet. Testing tonight and the art should only take a few days
I will continue to complain about how much Halo and 343 suck until they no longer do. If you don't like reading it, feel free to ignore me. But I think apologizing for Forge being a "lego editor" is stupid; the only reason it sucks is because 343 is an incompetent developer who'd rather spend dev time on borezone than the most unique element of their game. Fortunately, I happen to not play Halo 5 beyond Forge, unlike the Reach days.
Hazard is over a year old and has had no updates to address its balance issues and no refinements to its geometry or lighting. There are enough recent 2v2 maps out there that look decent and play better.
Alot of those are 4s maps, Sadly. I could see maybe Gridwalk, Mystic and Aerocrest out of that list. Even Mystic would be a bit slow, with the current version
If you're doing two pools, make one pool an "experimental map pool" with some of the wilder 2v2s, and then another "safe pool" with some of the more standard designs.
I propose we do this old school FHF style. 2 Days for nominations: You can nominate 3 maps, not including your own. After the 2 days of nominations, the top 10 maps are up for voting. Each person can vote for 2 maps. Leave the voting open for the remainder of the week, with the top 5 maps being used in the contest. This will give the community some say in what maps are used. In the meantime, start a 'meetup' thread, where people can post if they're looking for a partner for the contest. This will give them some time to play some matches on the nominated maps to see how well their play-styles and personalities mesh. Registration for the tourney could officially begin next week.
Pools are stupid in the first place. We should have all of the best considering unique gameplay elements and balance. Adding a map because it's basically an octagon is something we would only have to do if this contest were for pros or other similarly boring individuals, but it's not.
Pretty sure the goal here is to actually have competitive players/pros register for this. Regardless. Their opinions shouldn't matter, pros don't know **** about level design. We do. Put in the good maps, leave out the octagons. We're big kids now.
Yeah It's stupid either way. I can't believe that people still want to cater to the pros at all after the **** we've been through with them. They almost always have awful and incredibly boring opinions. Let's leave map selection to people who actually know what makes a good map and leave playing to the idiots who think Lockout is a great map.
I looked at Nemesis just now. It honestly looks like a warmup map. I thought we were talking about a version with sniper towers on either side and considerably more segmentation, but the current one seems to have 2 completely symmetric sides that are pretty much visible at all times. If money is on the line, how are people going to play on this map to win when there's virtually no way to play strategically?
honestly should just make it an arcanum tournament at this point since it's the only map eveyone agrees on.
Khaled Shazur is my new block out lol. Obviously it needs to be tested, but I'm sure it'll be interesting at the least.
This list is shaping up now. And no hate, simply and honestly don't think purple reign is fun or good. If people think it's good, let it be though. My thoughts are one of many different I'm sure.
