Wait you can do that? I feel cheated, because I couldn't come up with who deserves 1st, so i picked randomly between the 2 maps I enjoyed. Then gave 3rd to the map that was after those.
People be complaining about the community favorites and I'm just standing here satisfied with the fact my map was even considered . Although I can admit that my map is probably less worthy of being on that list than others, it's on that list for a reason. And I speak for every map on that list. I don't understand the need to call out others and put them down just because something doesn't go your way. Why can't we actually come together as a community and be happy for those who were deemed worthy enough to be on that list. The fact the title of this entire thing has "Community" in it should speak for itself. It's a community decision and we won't all agree on our choices of course, but that doesn't mean everyone other than yourself is wrong about the decision that they make. Its people who decide its a good idea to bash on other people's maps that originally turned me away from this community. I was afraid of being judged and having my low quality, amateur maps being hated on without them even given a chance. We all start from somewhere, so being able to recognize some of the wonderful and talented creators and all their hard work they put into these maps should be celebratory and not degrading. I say this, but of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Then again, that shouldn't mean though that I have the right to decide what is right. Sorry I kind of ranted there for a bit. I do want to add though as a bit of feedback for the Community Favorites: Spoiler: Feedback for Community Favorites Many of us don't have the time to view and play all the maps on the list so people then result to credibility of the forger and thumbnails of the maps if they haven't played all of the maps. This really skews the results and leaves lesser known forgers who are lucky enough to somehow be considered to ironically be unlucky with the fish they have to swim with(totally not calling myself out...psh). I have several suggestions on how this could be fixed: 1. Schedule "Community Favorites" custom game lobbies When the nominations for the Community Favorites are decided, have someone host a lobby on a certain date playing each map allowing people who didn't get a chance to experience the map, experience it first hand. It can also be livestreamed so that way, people who don't get a chance to join can still see others play and see how it plays and judge based off that. 2. Provide links to each map's thread This is pretty basic and I don't know why this isn't already a thing. If people don't know much about a map, a simple link to their map thread would be helpful and save people's time instead of having to scour the map lists looking for it. 3. Provide a brief description of the map and how it plays If the first 2 aren't possible, a simple description would at least help. If you look at the list as it is now, the maps who are tied to core gametypes are noted as a 2v2 or a 4v4. Why can't this be applied to all maps and in a more helpful, descriptive way? Like for example with my map (I'm only doing my map cause I don't want to get hate for wrongly describing someone elses map) Chimera Labs - "Choose your path" Linear Infection map has the survivors choose one of two routes with varying objectives to try and survive until the end. (Recommended 12 players min) If people are really that lazy to try the map out for themselves, at least they can have a brief synopsis of the map to judge from.
Community favourites is cool and all but maybe it should be a collection of maps the staff, forge critics or other prominent members thinks are just this month's 'awesome stuff'. Without a voting round I mean. Just 5-10 maps that caught your eye for whatever reason. Time shouldn't be a problem since all you ****ers hang around here daily
@Ascend Hyperion already does that with his map features, as well as @brusky0086 Imo the community favorites are a way to interact with everyone and nothing more. I didn't personally get excited of the fact that I was nominated, but I AM excited of the fact that I'll get to talk to more people about that and the other maps. Also, without the voting incentive, I feel like there would be less inclination to read through the latest maps then there already is. Tldr; Playing this game is painful enough, I'll take all the golden stars and ego boosts I can get at this point
Agreed. I've always seen the Community Favorites as a good thing. Not to be taken too seriously, but to give some maps that may have gone under the radar a little more attention. Especially now, because I barely visit the maps section. I'm trying to change that, though.
I really do like this ones aesthetics better then the one currently in matchmaking, but the fact that the other base isn't even rendered until you move 1/3 of the way up the map is ridiculous.
Even the simplest of animations is tricky in forge. Still wouldn't have released the version with the pelican sequence till the animation was cleaned up. That crash zone looked like **** too.
I don't know if anything can be done about it, but recently when some pieces were not rendering at a distance, I experimented with using different pieces, and for some reason, this distance is dependent on the piece chosen. Some large cylinders, for instance, render much further away than others. In my case, I was able to swap out shorter cylinders for taller ones, and it still fit the map. Those pieces seem pretty specific though, so perhaps this wouldn't work for that map.
