I want everyone imagine that you are me for a second. Imagine you hate ridiculous arbitrary rulesets for level design so much that you make a level design video called "There are no rules". Imagine you constantly push for people to push boundaries in level design and break conventions. Imagine if your entire map portfolio is compromised of years of work that you created to break every rule you know. Now imagine going to a staff meeting at work with every level designer and production team member (40+) is being instructed by the MP lead to come up with new rules to create for level design to add on to our already dictionary size rule book. Now imagine sitting through 7 hours of designers speak about imaginary rules they just created about how many inches certain doors can be an how many windows you're allowed per sq ft that are all being added to this universal rule book. I can't even put down a square without 12 things being wrong with it.
I would ask how all these stagnant minds keep getting MP lead Also, it seems like devs think all we want is a game we could play in our sleep; where the hell did that mindset come from and furthermore, how is it the mean view of said dev community?
This is basically why I never pursued at career with level design. I feel at some point this type of thing would take something I am passionate about and turn it into work. Hopefully you'll eventually get more freedom. @Qrrbrbirbel Sorry I didn't join your testing. I was really deep into working on my map today.
