Is this literally a *****? I'm not trying to be a **** (pun not intended), but I can't unseen it now. Otherwise I think it could be a cool premise; maybe switch level 1 and 2 for a staggered look?
I think this is disingenuous and it betrays reality, but I'll level with you for a moment. Before the internet, being original was easy because inspiration was harder to find and there were vast unexplored expanses of creativity and ingenuity. For the last 30 odd years however, the rate at which people share and exchange information and ideas has grown exponentially. Therefore, there is a good chance that someone somewhere has had a similar thought or idea as you because now "ideas are a dime a dozen." This is a reality creators and inventors face every day, and within that context, I'd be inclined to agree. Take Harry Potter for example. Prior to the franchise, broomsticks, magic wands and wizard schools were ideas within the collective conscience of people. JK Rowling didn't create those, but now they are synonymous with Harry Potter thanks to the way she executed on those ideas. Maybe you look at Harry Potter and say "someone else could have done that" ―and perhaps you'd be right. But nobody did ― and nobody did it like her. Indeed the Forge community shares a library of first person shooter level design, spanning dozens of games from Quake and Doom to Battlefield and Counter Strike. However, that pool for Halo maps (especially Forge maps) is much much smaller because this community is tiny. Over the span of the last 10 years, can you name over 100 well known Forgers? 50? And how many of them are still actively participating within the community? There are less people designing maps today, and even less pushing design to its limits. So I don't think you really believe your original statement. There are artists and designers in this community who have come into their own and are producing content that is unique and authentic to them. (I've made several threads to highlight the quirks and traits shared within a Forger's design because I think those sort of stamps are worth recognizing.) And even if the idea isn't 100% theirs, they might be the only person who has the technical skill, the design foresight, the artistic vision and the drive to execute on that idea and see it through to its potential. At that point, how can you say someone else could have done it? Why didn't they? I agree with Multi's point that many designs today have already been done in previous games. I personally do not have a problem with their existence because everyone has to start with scales before they write a symphony. Furthermore, not everyone's goal is to break barriers. Thus, if you're perfectly fine doing what you're doing, then power to you. However, given that we are now 10 years into Forge and are designing for a very different set of rules (yes they are different), I think it's fair to push those who have already proven to be capable designers and newbies alike to step out of their comfort zones in order to accelerate the collective potential of Forge. I also think that progress should be celebrated and rewarded, because without pioneers driving innovation, the community will stagnate. This is why every Hollywood picture coming out today is a rehash of movies from 10 years ago. People are playing it safe to make bank at the box office - and it's working - but is anything culturally relevant being made at all?

Why would 80% don't like you? Because you had an argument with Multi once? I haven't seen anything in here that should make people dislike you.
I'm surprised the CoD developers are underestimating the intelligence of their community after several games - while not as well received as the previous ones - pushed the boundary of gameplay and design into a collective state. In other words, today's CoD kids should be more woke. Like all it took for Halo's BR kids to drop the "BR starts" mantra was one game with Pistol starts. Now almost nobody wants BR starts back. The only precedent for not being able to do something is if it hasn't even been tried before.
The first map I pitched the lead producer looked at me and said "This doesn't look like a cod map." my response was "Well if you put it in cod it will look like a cod map. "
*Like all it took for Halo's BR kids to drop the "H5 BR starts" mantra was one game with Pistol starts. Now almost nobody wants H5 BR starts back. I'd trade anything for H3 BR starts back regardless of the 'flaws' multi has expressed.
