I can't wait post pictures of my cod maps a year from now the lighting team just went ham on them and they look ****ing ridiculous
How does one get a job specifically in the lighting department of a map? Genuinely curious as I figured this was something an art team would do.
When you look at a studio as massive as Treyarch you have the luxury of ONLY having to do your job and nothing else. All those horror stories of the game industry you hear about people having to do lot 5 jobs and program and art and all that is nonsense. There's a guy who's job is literally to put down spawns and objective, and that's it. There's a guy who just does lighting. There's a guy who just does vehicle physics. There's a guy who just does killstreaks. There's at least a time of guys behind every microscopic task.
super interesting. Im rather curious how each individual proved their worth in each individual category.
An application process like anything else really. Portfolio, skills showcase, and good interview. Industry experience doesn't hurt either. I'm always open to helping with level design related matters as well as industry related things. And that goes for everyone, I'm an open book, even to pwussyboi @Portaleer . I've spent the last 10 years of my life forging halo maps that I knew without a shadow of a doubt **** on the dev maps that shipped the game, frustrated that somehow I couldn't get industry experience yet somehow these schmucks are running franchises into the ground with their incompetence. Now that I have AAA experience and the platform, my goal is to help any aspiring developer get to where they need to be to get that job and hopefully change the course of their life like I have. If I don't think you've got the talent for the industry then I'm more than willing to help at the fundamentals, which is making sure youre a bitchin level designer BEFORE you go for the industry position. I've never said no to someone who's genuinely asked for help so if you're reading this feel free. Most people are just sensitive and the second I tell them their maps blow they clam up into defensive mode and refuse any drown out anything else I say
Waywo: Life Edition These little turkeys insist on being squished to sleep. When they're happy (like catching bugs for them with hemostats) they 'pip', and it sounds like little dloops of water
You didn't respond all that differently when I initially said that Oblivion has poor depth perception. Now, you did hear what I had to say in a party, but I don't see why it would be any different.
Yes because I knew your snobby ass intentions. Besides you're much too proud to accept any real criticism.
See, this is what I mean. You expect people to respond to feedback differently than you do. You don't practice what you preach. My intention was the same it's ever been when I take the time to leave feedback: To point out issues, and to offer solutions. To help the map reach its potential. Your ego kept you from even considering that my feedback was intended to help. Anything less than praise is unacceptable from the self-proclaimed "king". I handle criticism very well, actually. My maps have all been improved with the help of my peers.
