You're buying a mediocre gaming PC that you can't upgrade, has limited games, and requires a payed subscription. For what you're getting with Scorpio you can get for a fraction of the cost if you build a PC. Plus you get the advantages of a PC.
finishing maps is the most difficult part of forge lol I hate placing spawns/blockers/killzones. I do have one that is about 95% done so ill post it in this thread when I get around to finishing it.
Look up "600-700$ Gaming PC Build" and see what parts fit your price range. First result came up with this, which is not bad at all. https://pcbuildsonabudget.com/700-dollar-gaming-pc-build-2017
First thing of note is that the system is already over budget, which kinda makes the rest moot. The one thing that always gets me is for some reason people think that because Scorpio only has 8 Gigs of dedicated gaming memory that the PC equivalent is also 8 GIgs. Let me ask you this, what is your OS running on? Also what if Microsoft later decides to do a firmware update that drops another 2 gigs into the gaming pool? Any PC build has to have 12 Gigs of ram regardless of personal opinion. Speaking of OS, where is the Cost for the PC copy of Windows 10? Where is the cost for the Gamepad? Where is the cost for the 4k Blue Ray Player? (Yes Scorpio can stream too, that is not the point.) Also worth noting is that a PC can't merely mimic Scorpio's power it has to beat it in order to compete with the additional fine tuning that can be done on dedicated hardware. Don't get me wrong I love my PC's and that's why I've built a bunch of them, but they currently can't offer me the same price vs performance that the Scorpio can and they certainly can't offer me the footprint.
I was cleaning up my files and thought id go ahead and show this and make it visible for anyone who may want it. @xdemption 's shurima was my go-to 1v1 for a long time and i got tired of its old aesthetics so i arted it up forever ago. I ofc dont claim responsibility for the map.
I love all of those pics and scenes you just posted! I especially appreciate the "when in doubt, whip it out" you must also have with regard to placing potentially useful pieces off to the side as you work But seriously, damn those are really nice mini-works of inspiration!
I just sat back down with forge for the first time in a week and punched out some new details on my last map aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I lost connection to the servers luckily the recovery thing didn't work lost 2 hours of my life thanks Micrococks
sigh why not just have an automatic autosave function that overwrites a 'backup' version of the file every minute or so? it would save as a separate map, under the same name with a 'backup' subscript or something - can't be that taxing for the servers, given there are probably only 300 people at any given time using forge for anything substantial. Maybe it could even have been some kind of option that you turn on or off at your leisure, which makes sure only serious forgers use it
From now on I will be privately messaging larger fiend to insult him for his stupid opinions so our **** admins stop banning me. If you'd like to be included in this newsletter let me know. Also I finished my first professional developer map yesterday so there's that
Noivilbo Edit: can I get a plane ticket to Santa Monica for a test session? I promise to not tell anyone what I see/play
