GT: LargerFiend I'll rename it to "Buried" right now it is the default Barrens Canvas Edit: Screw that. apperently forge doesnt like people renaming maps and just reverts it back to its default. Ill put it in my bookmarks.
@A 3 Legged Goat I don't understand how designing a map with the goal of it playing well could be seen as pretentious. Designing a map that I consider worthy of creating is a challenge, and the feeling of being proud of my work is the reward. Positive reception is a bonus. There are people that enjoy the game.
being a gameplay > art forger in halo 5 because art "takes away from gameplay" is pretentious to me when art has been part of FPS level design for over 10 years.
You mean prioritizing gameplay when I create maps? Why does what other peoples' priorities affect you in any way? If I was saying "everyone should prioritize gameplay", I could understand you having a negative reaction. But, I'm not. I'm simply doing what I enjoy the way I enjoy it. I've also never said "art takes away from gameplay". People tend to limit themselves when they hold strict to a theme. The layout becomes an after-thought. That is my opinion. BUT, people can make dicks out of rocks and call it a map for all I care.

honestly the only map layout in this game currently that i like is Oblivion. everything else is either more of the same or not ambitious enough. I would quite frankly rather see everyone ignore gameplay and start making something actually interesting. Building for Halo 5 is the real limitation, but its a pipe dream because we cant even make different settings
Since the majority of us don't actually like the game as a Halo game, or game period(I'm in this camp), it seems we've all gone off on our own strange fetishy gameplay preferences. For the record, I whole heartily consider myself part of this group. Let's be clear, Halo 5 is straight up not Halo. To me, it more closely resembles a Cod/BF/Crysis/Halo hybrid and my map design reflects that belief. I definitely think that the game was geared towards 12v12/Warzone BF esque play for the simple fact that Warzone WAS the selling point that 343i believed would hit the widest target selling audience, 10-18yearolds, and I believe the games T rating, base abilities and reliance on the REQ system support this belief. As a non halo game, I like what Halo 5 is, but what I absolutely HATE about the game and what COMPLETELY destroys it's enojyability for me is the god awful weapon sandbox and DOGSHIT aiming/heavy aiming that's literally CONNECTION based plus the over pervasiveness of autoaim/sticky aim and magnetism on weapons and Spartan abilitys. That is by far the worst part of the game IMO. Fix that, and I could actually see myself being higher then a 29 almost 2 years in.
No, I'll just use it to get sick-ass loot in Borderlands 2. Speaking (typing, rather) of Borderlands, I was just part of a test group at Gearbox. That's how I got my golden key. No, I can't tell anyone anything about what I saw/did or what the study/session is about. I can tell you they had Cherry Coke (well, not anymore, but it was cool while it lasted).
Oh, and I have an additional Golden Key code for the Pre-Sequel and loot code for Battleborn. If anyone wants one, DM me.
I took a screenshot of each of the maps I 'fast forged' earlier in the week. I did these all in about a 2 hour stretch, which is like super speed forging for me (around 20 minutes per map). I realize they're not exactly unique, but they weren't meant to be. Lapping Out Loud could turn into something pretty interesting. There's potential in a couple of the others too, with some changes obviously. I'll definitely be doing this again sometime in the future, though I'll probably be looking to focus on something that's further out of my comfort zone.
