We can't help it if nobody posts map pics in here. They are free to do so at any point. I swear I'm like 2 staff posts away from posting animal porn on this site, lol. Edit: I'm going to forge a map soon. There I'm back on topic.
If you want the site to be more accommodating to new users, consolidation should be what you are aiming for, not spreading everything thin. I imagine that when a new user comes to a site and sees that it has all these different sections and threads, but they only have ~4 replies - that they think the site is really low traffic and isn't worth their time. When they see that the site has 10 threads that are all massively populated, that might help them decide to stay and contribute to the community. Also, just so this post is "on topic", forge is a thing that exists in Halo 5.
Making WAYWO exclusive to Forge projects serves only to benefit new members who come here once, post a picture, and then leave because nobody wants to comment on a map from somebody they don't know. Consolidate the forums: Forge Forum and General Discussion Forum. Make dedicated threads for everything, including an introduction thread so these new members can make themselves known. To the actual active user base, the site doesn't appear to be growing at all. If ya'll make WAYWO a picture-only thread, it'll die, and activity will either leave the site or move to a general discussion thread, where it'll be impossible for you to tell people not to post pictures of their maps because it wont be "off topic".
I thought I'd throw a little something something to Linnsker for his Epitaph remake and I'm not sure he'll even use it. I just couldn't help but show this nightmare that is a very effective remake of the original Rocket lift. I never bothered making the visible part of the lift, so he's on his own on that if he uses it. I really want @no god anywhere to revisit his Construct remake (Contract). I tried using the sliders as lifts in there and they worked great. It was especially satisfying to jump into the streams of the smaller lifts and be wisked away like the original. Gravity slides really need to affect grenades.
spent a few hours working on this... thoughts? In other news. The season 3 premiere of Rick and Morty was dope
Broken pic for me. And indeed, Rick and Morty was amazing. I NEED THE SZECHUAN SAUCE. --- Double Post Merged, Apr 2, 2017 --- @Preacher001 that looks like it was a pain in the ass to make.
It took some doing. I gave it a few tries but they didn't work as well as I had hoped, and non of them realigned you the way the original did. Fortunately I got this xmas tree shape in my head that would pull the player up and towards the central spine of the lift. After that all I had to do was figure how much force it would take to shoot you to the middle of the map. I was worried I might have to put more sliders along the route but the lift worked just fine. I didn't realize how much work it takes to make an omnidirectional lift that is almost 3 stories tall.
I love how my simple texture map looks like a H2 map so far. Helps that I'm also watching Naded play H3.
Looks a bit like hazmat room in Goliath. Textures look great though. Might need to add a little detail to give depth and break up the repetition. Sand or light colored dirt would really look nice in my opinion. What software is that by the way?
I'm a week LTTP but I just hopped on Forge to reacquaint myself with Oblivion's lighting. My TV is LCD and it's 10 odd years old, but I've color corrected it to screenshots to get the most accurate representation of the game. I also have my Halo 5 brightness up to 5. Because there is no true illumination rendering in this game for interior spaces, the map has very harsh shadows, almost as if the blacks are crushed. This game also has some stupid light bloom effect where if you're looking at a bright object far away, your screen brigthens, and if you look at something closer to you, it'll darken. It makes absolutely no sense, and it doesn't help that when the lightning strikes, it dims the entire map regardless of where you are for a few seconds. Oblivion has some of the most photorealistic lighting in the game, but when those shadows are as high contrast as they are, it's no wonder people can't see **** on it. There are areas where I can walk around and look at the ground and the whole screen will just turn black because of the bloom. It seems most of this can be attributed to the game's lousy lighting engine. I hopped on a few other maps and I'm noticing the same crushed black thing going on, but it seems to be the worst on parallax.
