Okay, what the hell? The way that was handled was terrible. How much sense does it make to lock the thread 'after' the 10+ pages of flame was finished? It serves no constructive purpose at all. As one of the main contributors of the flame, I can say I have learned nothing by this lock. It only causes confusion. We've shown that we can end the flamewar ourself, without the need of policing, then we get punished for it? Talk about sending a poor message. Was WAYWO any better when it was dead? It seems the flames actually brought real discussion to the thread after they subsided.
It's called diffusing. By removing the platform, the topic dissipates. Of course, that is unfair to law abiding citizens, but this is the alternative to deleting posts and banning people. Pick your poison.
We're working on a solution, that way the waywo will be used constructively, and won't get bogged down by pissy people.
Like I told someone else, I rarely visit WAYWO anymore because of all the negativity that is brewed in there. So when someone approached me about the situation, you're right it was days past. It should have been handled sooner rather than later. There are people who contributed to the issue, those who reported, the innocent people who just watched and then there are those who want to contribute to this open flame because it's restricted ATM. I personally HATE moderating. Most of us are adults to police ourselves, it's the internet, I get it. But then we have to think about the forge community as a whole. Since becoming an Admin, I've heard on several occasions that they visit this site less and less because of how the community members there are 'elitist assholes'. I like a lot of you guys since we sort of grew up together in this weird connection, but try to look at how toxic some of our members have been this past few months. I do apologize that it led to the locking of the thread. We're working on a solution for the ForgeHub community. I will gladly listen to your suggestions and possible solutions. We're all here for a reason and we all share this space with others so let's try to be better community members.
So this thread that has survived multiple Halo's, mutiple websites, and like 7 years of schnitzel, has now come to an end because people were talking about In n out? Haha, all you can do is laugh. --- Double Post Merged, Mar 30, 2017 --- "removed"
That's only applicable if there are posts/people worth banning, which there were not. When people start personal attacks, sure, delete their posts. If that person continues to attack people, then sure, ban that person. However, if you're locking threads with heated discussion because you're worried about site traffic, then I don't think I want to use this website anymore to be completely honest.
It had nothing to do with the "which burger restaurant is better" conversation Xandrith and we all know that. It was the aggressive conversation that even newer members commented on during that was off putting to them. Goat stated that no one wants to argue in private / group conversations to carry those conversations on cause they don't have an audience. There is an "elitist inner circle" aura to forgehub and the one thread new members would goto post their developing content ends them up reading cesspools of negativity. Again I could care less and enjoy a good read of drama, but my opinion it's in the wrong thread regardless of "tradition". Successful businesses are that way due to change. My suggestion would be to have a Works in Progress thread available to everyone and perhaps make a Senior Members section only accessible to members who have been around over a year or two and over 100 posts. That could be a NSFW (Not safe for wimps lol) section. Don't keep beating a dead horse guys by complaining why when we all know why... Suggest a solution - Be a part of the answer, not the problem and then return to your regularly schedule program of trolling the new appropriate thread.
Half the conversation was a pissing contest, the other half was educational. I know it was a heated discussion but some of it had fair arguments about level design.
Yo, you wanna save some space, just rename this to the Elder Trolls: Forgehub so all the toxicity ends up in one place. Kinda like a Sewer Plant regulating all of its unspeakable innards to one location.
You mean..WAYWO?! I really liked that everything I still cared about in the Forge community was consolidated in one place, whether it was toxic or not. Sad to see it locked.
