No, I don't think things are getting worse, if that's what you're asking. It's been like that as long as I've been alive. You're either just getting exposed to it more, or are become more aware of it.

    Dialect is dead.
@Chunk I think he is also talking about what is morally acceptable.

If that's the case, morals are constantly changing on personal, cultural, and global levels.

Real Talk time... I personally kind of despise people that adhere to a set of morals primarily because they're concerned about how others perceive them. I'd prefer people drop the facade and act in alignment with what they truly feel and think, even if that means they're acting insane. I'm more likely to trust that a crazy person is being authentic than a little Mr/Mrs perfect. From my perspective, most highly moral people are really just faking. I'm not a fan of fakers.

I agree and that is why I am the **** that I am. There are just some **** I just think are bad for society as a whole and I think that is the problem he is referring to and people are unwilling and unable to make compelling arguments for these things or because of these beliefs they can't see why someone else would not want that and tell them to be accepting when they are not being accepting and not giving that person a convincing argument.

Like I said dialectic debate is dead.

That's a very bold claim. Is that how you choose to percieve moral standards? You reject that it is at all possibly genuine?

I don't think that is what he means. Many people talk a lot without truly doing the walk. It is very common. More common that what he is describing.

That's close, but not exactly what I was trying to say. There are even a lot of people that walk the walk, but they do so because they believe they're supposed to, or because they have a desire to adhere to the expectations of other. Any actions that come out of that are NOT genuine to me. They often times even appear genuine. It's virtually impossible to know whether someone is being genuine or not. Even Mother Teresa, who is widely regarded as a 'saint' admitted that she was extremely insecure about her actions, whether or not God loved her for them, and whether or not it was all worth it in the end. It was clear from what she wrote that her actions were driven by a desire for approval. She walked the walk better than just about anyone alive over the last century, but I would consider her action to be not genuine since there was an agenda behind them.

A lot of times 'good' actions are not a result of 'good' intentions. The two are loosely related at best. The same can be said of 'bad' actions and intentions. 'Morals' refer to a combination of intent and action, but I think we tend to give too much weight to the action end of the equation.

Good point. @a Chunk Can't an agenda be genuine to a person. As the world is driven by narrative agenda's and many adhere to one or another.

Morality is a fickle *****. Mob mentality for the potential betterment of mankind, is almost a better way to describe it.

Morality is perspective. The issue is whether or not these things are good for the future of humanity.
