A few aesthetic things leave me a bit puzzled. Why are some of the forerunner walls pink? Why are they sometimes not frosted on the outside? Don't you think the main base braces are a tad thin? This remake is super good already, but I think tweaking these things could make it even better.
It's all about keeping the map under budget. The base braces account for only 28 pieces. Matching anything close to the original would have cost 84 pieces, or at the very least least 42 pieces. I'm not a fan of patchwork Trapezoids, and our map is at 1380 pieces (my exact target) so we would have to delete 14 pieces elsewhere to make up the difference if we were to use the above example. The outside walls on the bases are, in most cases, the same pieces as the inside walls on the bases to save piece count. The map was intended to give the impression of a great rise in temperature as you moved into the bases so we did not want frosted blocks anywhere inside of the entrance. The Cave and Mancanon platform pieces do not allow adding textures yet but we built them assuming textures would come at a later date. No other pieces, other than straight blocks, fit the space as well as the items we used there.

It's not quite ready yet. There are still some things relating to vehicles to figure out. It only runs smoothly on the PC. On the Xbox the hill stutters wildly.
Thanks for the response. I look forward to being able to try it out once it's ready and functioning properly.
Any idea why this awesome map wasn't included in 343i's most recent BTB refresh? I was really looking forward to seeing this map included.
They wanted to push it to MM the day it was released but i asked them to not include until we put 1 Flag and 1 Bomb on the map.
Glad to hear they wanted it. I kind of wish you would have just allowed them to put it in for the regular CTF and Neutral Bomb (Assault) modes.
Haven't heard much buzz with regards to this map being tested for the up-coming BTB refresh. Any reason why?
Awesome to hear. I was worried as I recall hearing suggestions from other Forgers that it wasn't good enough to receive consideration for inclusion. And I hadn't seen it within the testing streams that I've watched.
There has been a push to remove all remakes, which i disagree with. Remakes have been a part of BTB since the second game. In the end, it's 343i's decision so i support which ever maps they pick.
I also disagree with that desire, but I understand the desire to see new concepts given more of an opportunity.
It's not like they would remove another worthy candidate to make room. It would just be an additional map.
I'd personally like to see the bigger and more open terrain maps included into the Big Team Super Fiesta playlist and perhaps a new Big Team Heavies playlist such that both of their primary focuses are on heavy vehicular combat. Meanwhile, a new ranked Squad Battle (6v6) playlist is more or less focused on lighter vehicular combat; though, with their purpose being tactically vital to the game-play. I'd also like to see any truly impactful vehicles limited from being easily stolen like how you stash the Wasps behind team-based shield doors within this map (Avalanche). Anyways, these are just my personal preferences and it includes having plenty of re-makes or re-imaginations of great maps from the past.
