I think I could get behind that. Cold Storage or Guardian, maybe Ghost Town Epitaph and Orbital following it up.
You mean back before everything was completely unnecessarily detailed? But more detail = better looking doesn't it??? @Given To Fly High Guard is ****ing beautiful man. Not really any framerate either from what I've gathered.
Epitaph is absolutely stunning. All the 343 fanboys who like details should take a look back to Halo 3 to see how good details are made. I mean... And the photo doesn't do justice to it. I remember the glass walls of sliding tridimensional text, and all the ethereal sounds (including a dark Halo theme). I would like to see it with the same art style but with current hardware. EDIT:
The level of detail in the Forerunner stuff hasn't really increased or decreased after Halo 3. 343 just decided to make Forerunner technology "transform" and changed the art style to accommodate for moving parts. Bungie's stuff was still very detailed - including gutsy at times - but most of it was just linework on top of flat shapes.
Yet another map inspired by Ghost Town because i'm trying to get over Forger's block, and making knock-off Ghost Towns helps for whatever reason.
I know how do you feel man... Guys, is there anything we can do? We all agree that their art style sucks or at least it's not coherent and respectuful of Bungie's legacy. How do you think they'll consider a letter from one of their most important communities?
I guess that answers the question, ahahah! But at least we can try, no? I think you understand me when I say that I'm tired to see Halo in these conditions...
I understand how you feel goat. Somehow the advanced forge we have now that should make the process so much easier has made it even harder & time consuming for me to make a map. With such advancements the bar has been raised & I can't satisfy myself with anything I've built and it is very hard to commit so much time to end up with nothing in the end. I've started several projects yet the only thing I've produced are 2 mediocre at best doubles maps for a tournament that never happened (lol) which neither were selected to be used anyways for that matter. I was nonstop core 4v4 and I've done nothing in this game. What I can say is that I have learned so much in my musical talents & have advanced more this last year than the previous years thanks to forge NOT eating up what little spare time I have away from work/family/life in general. So thanks 343, I dedicate my next 8 string guitar to you!
So basically any map in H3. Agreed. You're basically a forerunner in terms of forge so that means a lot man, thanks!
Givens map is awesome I'm just too jealous to tell him. So Ace could you please tell him how cool his map is for me? Thanks.
When I'll buy a capture card I'll make some videos about the art in Halo 3 and then the art in Reach. They must be the most persuasive possible, so I'll ask your detailed opinion. The revolution starts now, in a way or another things have to change.
My maps in the previous games were **** but I was always doing something different, whether it was something interesting with geometry or putting them in a unique patch of terrain. We were all working within limitations and I accepted them as such, but I kept pushing them. Now that I can build whatever I want, I'm way less accepting of making a shitty map. I'm still pushing themes and trying something different, but the game has changed in terms of what is acceptable and i don't want to waste a good name or theme on a bad layout. But back in Reach I was pretty much in a full Forge lobby 24/7, so times have also changed...
