I've managed to figure out all of the scripting to create Gun Game in Halo 5, but it's rather tedious to change the weapon progression so I'd like to get it right the first time. Here's what I laid out initially, but I'm not sure how well it would actually play: 1. SAW 2. Binary rifle 3. Sniper rifle 4. Grenade launcher 5. Spartan laser 6. Light rifle 7. DMR 8. Battle rifle 9. Carbine 10. Assault rifle 11. Storm rifle 12. Brute plasma rifle 13. SMG 14. Suppressor 15. Shotgun 16. Scattershot 17. Boltshot 18. Magnum 19. Plasma pistol 20. Empty Prophet's Bane I'm open to any suggestions, and willing to change the list entirely. Note that it's not really feasible to include grenades. Also, for technical reasons I can't turn on infinite ammo for this game mode. This isn't really an issue for non-energy weapons, since they can just be set to spawn with more ammo than you'd ever need. However, you can't do this with energy weapons, so for example with the Spartan laser you'd only have 4 shots, and then you'd need to die to get a refill. Another thing I'd like feedback on: it's not possible to "demote" someone if you kill them in a certain way (like with a melee, ground pound, assassination, grenade, or Spartan charge). Should I just disable all of these, or keep them in as alternate ways to progress to the next weapon?
I think you should put some of the sniper rifles and maybe the Spartan laser higher. And also if you want to limit energy weapons due to the issue, you can replace it with the second choice I put. Maybe like this: 1. SAW 2. SMG 3. Assault Rifle 4. Storm Rifle or Magnum 5. Carbine 6. DMR 7. Battle Rifle 8. Light Rifle 9. Suppressor 10. Brute Plasma Rifle or Shotgun 11. Scattershot 12. Sniper Rifle 13. Binary Rifle 14. SPNKR 15. Grenade Launcher 16. Gravity Hammer or Hydra 17. Spartan Laser (Can't think of another one. Maybe just use the req variant the uses less energy) 18. Boltshot 19. Plasma Pistol 20. Empty Prophets Bane This is just my idea for that and you don't have to agree with anything I say. Just a suggestion. Also you should probably disable grenades if you can't demote but other means are debatable. If anything, get rid of Spartan charge and ground pound. If you're also looking to test it, I'd be interested in helping.
Unfortunately for a halo gun game, the weapon balance in halo 5 is on point. Id recommend trying to avoid imitating COD in weapon similarities and go with a progression that is simply easiest to get a kill with to most difficult, the first being maybe rockets and the last a plasma pistol. Turn off anything that could be used to progress to the next weapon without getting a kill with the weapon itself and if demotion is impossible, disable those things too.
I was a bit hesitant to put in rockets since that could make the beginning rather hectic, but maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing. Probably better to go for more variety. Plasma pistol as the last weapon rather than an empty sword is a good idea, since it would be kind of annoying to have someone punching you and being unable to punch back. Also, does setting melee damage to 10% (the lowest it can go) apply to hammers and swords? Because if so, I'll probably just exclude melee weapons entirely. Edit: looks like it does apply to both. If I really want to add them, I could probably add a script to enable melees only for players using those weapons.
I like Gun Game best when there's a bit of a bell curve in terms of ease of use. The final weapon in other games is typically a humiliation weapon, so either a Plasma Pistol or empty Sword would be great.
Woah woah woah! Don't go using terms like "bell-curve" here man! Some kids might not get that ****! I wish I was joking, but seriously...
This is actually what I would consider the right way to do it and is the way I originally thought and is the way it is in the cod games I have played a lot.. Bell curve explains that well. Difficult starters, easy middles, difficult finishers. Schnitzel, you're way underestimating peoples common sense, or at least one hope not... I can't figure out if my post makes sense I'm drunk
Yeah, now that I think about it, a bell curve would make it a lot more fun. Here's my revised list: 1. AR 2. Suppressor 3. Storm rifle 4. Scattershot 5. Shotgun 6. Sniper 7. Binary rifle 8. SAW 9. Railgun 10. Rocket launcher 11. Hydra 12. Plasma caster 13. Grenade launcher 14. Needler 15. Sentinel beam 16. Lightrifle 17. BR 18. Boltshot 19. Magnum 20. Plasma pistol The trouble is that some weapons are beastly in the right hands and less so in others, but I think that this is generally a pretty good curve. Edit: Got scripting and weapons done, now to make it all into a prefab and drop it into a few maps. Spoiler
