Here's a little different setting for that aesthetic I posted about before. Obviously WIP as well. Also, @Ray Benefield since you were looking for more pictures.
Very cool stuff. I need to experiment with this. Creating realistic settings isn't really a strong suit of mine. This style seems like it would be a great fit for me.
One concern is that a block directly in front of you will seamlessly blend in visually with a block on the other side of the map because emissive pieces are (mostly) not affected by lighting/shadows. As with Yekkou's example all items would have to be framed in another colour. [edit-back with pics]
Spoiler: Train Station Pic Love the example haha. Yeah, I try to outline/accent objects, frames, and paths as needed to avoid confusion during gameplay. When I first started with the train station I posted earlier, I realized this. You can give the illusion of depth/shading of sorts using colors via 10% gray - black. Similar to the tunnels leading away from the train station in the first pic. Just gotta be careful when putting everything together.
Here's a Forerunner-themed Invasion map I'm working on. The map is about 30-40% done, I just need to map out phase 2/3 and then play with the aesthetics a little bit and It'll be ready to playtest.
A few more hours of lighting, atmosphere and tedious work and my Moria themed grifball court is good to go.
I lack the talent to do so unfortunately. I am not going to post the map as it is because there is no art, however I will not be arting it up. IF ANYONE WANTS TO GIVE IT A GO ... --- Double Post Merged, Dec 29, 2016 --- Thanks man! I put a lot of though into the layout and wanted to try and come up with interesting player engagements and movement options.
You can do it I believe in you. Just use those obnoxious forerunner and sangheli pieces that everyone thinks makes their map look good and you're good to go.
