Hey guys, figure this is the best place to post this. I just had an idea that I think would be really cool. Would anyone be interested in participating in (and maybe proctoring) themed prefab contests? I'm talking like maybe the contests are to create, say, a throne. Best throne wins. Or, to create a set of Game of Thrones basic building materials - which could be feasibly used to create a GoT themed map. Best set (content is consistent, comprehensive, looks good, but also minimizes object count, maybe other factors) wins. I don't know the protocols for setting anything like this up and it's not a fully developed idea, I was just curious who might be interested in something like this. It would be cool to see what people are capable of on a smaller scale than entire maps in creating dynamic content. Post here if intrigued at all!
Of course there is another option which would be keeping a consistent theme amongst the prefabs to make a dynamic comprehensive themed map WITHOUT being limited to a specific theme, I just feel the theme would be better contest-wise. But seeing what people come up with on their own would be equally rewarding! It's very general though, so it would be hard to repeat that competition. One thing we could do is have each person choose a theme and then design one "building block" at a time for their theme, so let's say I chose GoT and someone else chose underwater. The contest could be "seating" and I would build the iron throne whereas they may build a seabed that looks like a chair. Then for the next contest I would add to my GoT theme and they to their underwater, as we build up a collection of building blocks, rated on how good it looks and how well it matches the other pieces in our theme. All just thoughts right now though!
We actually did one of these contests back in October. We got about 65 submissions from it, and we may do it again later down the line as an extra contest in between our major ones. Currently, we have our Grifball contest, however stay tuned for other pre-fab contests!
Well in that case never mind! Lol I would have offered to proctor it but have nothing to offer in the way of incentivizing prizes. But it could be a lot of ongoing mini contests that act much faster than the big ones for anyone who maybe isn't interested in the major contests... idk I'm kinda spitballing
