Also, anyone else come across the issue of the game auto generating lighting/ making groups UN-grabbable?
Framerate got worse before the big 1600 update. They said rendering bug, would be fixed soon. *Gets worse* They really ghost meleed the nail on the head
is it just me, or does the shading of blocks look different now? That might something to do with performance hit.
I'm gonna look at it this way: If this game's lifespan isn't long enough for them to put resources into fixing the rendering bug, then it's not worth the time and effort optimizing a Forge map for matchmaking given that it will be relevant for less than a year. So **** Framerate drops. This is exactly why nobody forged for matchmaking in MCC (aside from the fact that the game didn't work).
Yeah I agree this is kind of bullshit. What's the point of adding all this new stuff when our maps are terrible performance wise? I'm glad they're catering to the mini-game audience so much, I like seeing diversity in forge, but maybe spend time and resources fixing the imo, the biggest issue with forge/forged matchmaking maps. It's infuriating that they not only didn't fix it, they made it worse. And I don't wanna hear any bullshit about it being "too complicated to fix", if a few programmers spent a good week or two, I'm sure they'd figure it out. Kind of disappointed tbh. The new assets are great, but there's not really a point if our maps frame rates are really chunky. Rant over.
Just sent Sketch a message asking him to look into the rendering bug. I fear that we are dangerously close to the cut off time for major bug fixes though.
My fears exactly. I'd be happy if they devoted their time to this instead of adding new assets or whatever.
Yup, I missed that explanation. For some reason it wasn't showing up when I replied last so sorry for the horrific ignorance xD I had thought you meant customs/forge weren't focused on serious gameplay- that's why I was shocked when you said they had no focus on it. Regarding forge maps in competitive matchmaking, I completely agree with you.
Everyone talking about the framerate when the new minigame mode doesn't even show up on Halo: Waypoint.
a Chunk puts on old man pants... If you young whipper snappers think this is bad, you should've been around when we had to make Reach forge maps split screen compatible.
The render bug was introduced with the 1600 object increase. They changed something about the way they render objects at different distances across the whole game, not just forge. I brought this up to Tom French after the Anvil's Legacy dropped on Sept. 8th because the rendering bug still wasn't fixed. “It's being investigated. No word yet. Apparently it is global. graphics are working on it.” Tom French (Sept 14) Yesterday, Tom confirmed that the updates made to Forge might actually have negatively impacted performance across the board. "It was investigated and I think minor fixes. It stems from 1600 objects + features like Material Overlay that made objects more heavy. A big underlying rendering overhaul is needed to fix it which is not going to happen during Halo 5 due to (risk/time)." Tom French (Dec 8) Materials dont add polygons, how do they take up proccessing power? Is it rendering each object multiple times for every texture possibility? If we had a clipping process that would stop rendering edges and surfaces inside one another, similar to most PC engines, it would improve performance.
