Some Camo/Snipe whoring scrub that always managed to pull off lucky no scopes. Really? I built it mostly with a 1 Unit = 8 Feet scale. It already makes a lot more movement options possible. Making it any smaller would probably totally break the way the map works. I'll need to get a few games before I think about changing anything. That would be awesome! Once I'm satisfied that the scaling is on point I'll get in touch with you and pass it off to you if you're still interested.
Direct conversions are never going to work in H5, you should probably think about how quickly a player can get from place to place in relation to an average pistol kill time, plus most of your longer RRR look like a nightmare for pistol battles. We could talk on Skype sometime!
Building on what Multi said below, direct conversions are also very tricky with H5... In the past, 1 forge unit was equal to 3 meters. Switching from the vastly superior metric system to the garbage that is imperial complicates things immensely... However, by nature of switching from metric, that also means a 1=8" conversion is actually downsizing from past Halo titles... But yeah, Multi is right, you need to build around movement speed and RRR.
There traditionally haven't been many long range encounters on this map. I realize that they're there, but the only time they're ever really useful is if you have the Sniper, and that's basically by design. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the scaling though. I'll message you on Skype when I get a chance. I still can't seem to grasp how to do proper scaling on this game. I think a lot of that just comes down to the fact that I tend to focus my designs around restricting movement options, and descaling them to work with the pistol ****s everything up.
If you ever apply for a job at 343 again, I'll gladly serve as a reference for you. I can confirm for them that your idea of "soon" closely correlates to theirs.
I agree that the map does look over scaled for a 1v1 map intended for pistol starts, however you could do what @iTz Longshot was doing for some of his 1v1s and use a BR starts gametype. H5 scaling is extremely awkward due to the low RR on the pistol combined with the extremely fast movement times. I personally don't mind out of RR Range pistol battles but the vast majority of players aren't a fan of them
Watching this inspired me to forge a new 1v1 today. I'm not sure if it's going to be close to as good as Rapture, but after seeing this, I needed to make something in this style. Its only two hours and a couple of unbalanced tests in, but the layout is there. It's currently called "Chunk Inspired" if anyone wants to peep it. Spoiler: Pics
