I was browsing through Chunks FH features thread and saw Karma's post about his first map. It took me down memory lane, so I decided to go searching for some images of my own first map. That being said, prepare yourselves for the best thing you've never seen. This was "Zombie Village", an infection map complete with a bank, a bookstore, a movie theater, and some kind of weird tunnel. Oh, and a beautiful stone garden as you can see above. Arguably the best infection map ever. Need I say more? So yeah, post your first maps. I wanna see em'. Also, you should all make a forge-folio, too. They're a blast to both make and look through, haha. There's a compiled list of all the ones that have already been made here.
My first map was a 2-base, 2-Tower map that was like Midship or Onslaught, only better (or so I thought at the time, lol). It was called Alcove, and I made it to fulfill a 2-Base, 2-Tower request from MLG. The corrupt bastards didn't pick it. Here's the full picture album if anyone really wants to look - http://s807.photobucket.com/user/jtjubert/library/Alcove?sort=3&page=1
Depends what you define as first map... Cause my first map I made was a horrible slayer map in the coliseum in Reach (Which I literally named Coliseum). My first actual playable map was a mini game in reach similar to a combination of armor walkers and nom nom from Reach. Was actually pretty fun between my friends.
My first map was called peacock paradise, and sported various animals that could be climbed on and in. Animals included a partial frog, a glorious peacock, and I think some sort of snake base. Needless to say it's where I got my weird streak from
I've started forging on H5 so my first map was a grifball court called Greengrif Stadium, just to learn the controls etc. My first slayer map was a 4v4 called Encounter but with no idea of scaling and such it looks like a btb breakout map. There are both on my map list. Beware of pure awesomeness...
Taking this quite literally: I don't have it anymore, but I built a bridge between the two plateaus on Forge World and put spawns on each side. I didn't know about coordinates or precision editing, so nothing lined up correctly.
I started out making micro maps in H4 for 1v1 with friends. They where like octogon small, with semi-lanes and boxed in real tacky like... I called my first one Rust, it was on erosion. Then nebula. Then i moved on to 4v4. Good times...
Oh WOW. I switched back to Flickr after 700 of my pics were wiped from minus.com. Just checked and the promo shots from my first forge map were still there in an album. Camp Spawn was a devious skill/platformer/puzzle map with 7 'trials'. If you completed all 7 you teleported to a high platform (point scoring Hill) with infinite snipers, where you sniped other players attempting to complete their trials. If you completed the 7th trial you were gifted a 30 second Custom Powerup Invincibility to overpower the current hill holder. pics: Titles describe the trial. https://flic.kr/s/aHsiUfozLS
Tahros Port It never was pretty, but it was always a blast to play on. They guys still request it to this day. I don't think I ever perfected the hidden teleporter. If your network lagged when you jumped into it, it was an instadeath. I found that out when my buddy in Australia kept stealing host even though he was the only one that wasn't local.
I don't have screenshots of it but my first map was on foundry. It had couple of bases on both ends with two huge rooms, and the hallway between them had every single weapon and powerup I could find in the menu, making sure to hit the max flamethrowers of course. I was seven, ok? Chill. yes I forged when I was 7 but not very much at all plus I did it with some friends
Sometimes I think people forget that the beauty of Forge is having the ability to make something fun without the rules that are present in professional maps. If I was making Maps professionally I think I would still want to build fun things in Forge just because I could never put them in an official map.
Seems like at this point everybody has funneled into certain ways to forge, and that we're only taking advantage of some of its potential. I miss the way it was in h3 when something hilariously retarded would be made, even if it was an accident, that would blow up in the community for being so fun. We rarely see that now...
I dabbled a bunch in forge during the Halo 3 days, but didn't actually submit anything until Reach days. So this isn't technically my first map, but one of the first. Haha it's funny because I've remade this for Halo 5, which turned out significantly better. Ah the days of shield sticking https://www.forgehub.com/threads/last-crusade.136955/
I remember this one. This won you Wonders of the World, didn't it? I remember being salty that map my didn't win lol.
I must have deleted all the images from my photobucket because all I have are these little cropped images, but here's the gist of it. It was a replica of Chichen Itza. That was a fun contest lol.
