It looks really good man. I'll have to give this one some games and see how it plays to comment further, but I like your visuals so far.
I haven't gotten to play this but it is up there on the top of the list! Also, did you decide to go through with that lockout remake? I'd love to see it with a similar aesthetic to this with the overgrown trees!
Thanks man, looking forward to your feedback! I've made some progress on the remake but now I'm working on other stuff, I have like 6 maps to complete. One day I'll finish it, I hope soon!
Ok; I also take a keen interest in it because I'd like to see it in the remakes playlist that I know 343 plans on putting out =D
Uhm... interesting, then maybe it will be the next after the canyon I posted on the other thread! Anyways, this is the status of the map http://xboxclips.com/SupremeDavide/eba21816-1027-4a6a-8cfa-847c605a80dd
Visually, the map looks very nice. If it was intended to be purely an aesthetic map, I'd be giving it a high rating. As a playable level (Disclaimer: I haven't played on the map) I'd say it's far below average. It's closer to being an octagon than an actual multiplayer map. There is some height variation and cover on the map, but the layout is overly simplistic (a circle with an open center and a pathway around the exterior). I feel like you could've made something much more interesting without sacrificing visuals very much. I personally think you'd have been better off if you'd either gone all out on aesthetics and not even bothered making it playable, or focused on creating a solid design and then pushing the aesthetics as far as you could without sacrificing design elements. Making it playable with a mediocre design hurts it, imo.
That looks great! Honestly, I don't mean to be too much of a fanboy here, and of course its your map so its up to you, but I think you should totally stop all other projects and get that one finished. There are many Lockout remakes out there and I have played on several that have very accurate-to-the-original gameplay, but I have not seen one that looks that good. I feel that if we remake a map now in Halo 5, we have a responsibility to not only remake it, but to enhance it and make it look better/more interesting, since Halo 5 forge has given us so many artistic options. I know I'm kind of pressuring you to do a map and you might have other projects going on, but I have not seen any forger pull it off as well as you and I think you could be the one to give 343 that Lockout remake that I know they're going to put in their remake playlist.
Thanks a lot for the feedback chunk! Yeah I definetly agree you, the layout is not so much interesting. But I think that with another layout (considering the resources of this Forge) the visuals would have been far from these. All the buildings in the map are monumental, they are meant to be seen in their full form, and I can do this only with an open space. If I made something different, the player wouldn't have had this sensation of awe while navigating the map. I had plans for another layout, for other passages, for example under the pit of the middle or under the main windows, down to the sea, but I had limited resources. So I chose the ultra-simple layout and the beautiful aesthetics. Anyways, I hope that the map is fun to play, even with a layout so simple and uninspired. For me it's the most important thing. --- Double Post Merged, Nov 2, 2016 --- You're too kind sir. I'll see what I can do!
Basically what Chunk said. Amazing aesthetics but mediocre gameplay. The map's basically a boring donut and I honestly didn't have much fun playing it because of the overly simple layout. I'd be interested to see what you can do if you dedicated everything to making a full-blown aesthetic map though. And I absolutely love the lighting in this. Looks great shining down on the player as he looks around the map.
