Update time again. Skip to the TLDR and video if you don't feel like reading. I need help, lol. I enjoy messing around with this forge artistically, but I can't get anything done. I keep losing focus, and it's resulting in me not making any progress at all. So...I'm hoping to pass this map off to someone else who's interested in doing art. It could be a continuation of one of the concepts I've already begun (see the video below), or something completely different. Whoever takes it on will have free reign to do whatever they want with it visually, so long as it doesn't negatively impact gameplay. I'll even be willing to make some structural changes to accommodate a visual theme, if it's necessary (and again, doesn't negatively impact gameplay). This will be a co-forge, with myself receiving credit for the design, and the co-forger receiving full credit for theme, lighting...the entire overall appearance. In the future, I'll most likely be doing the same thing with all future projects. Even though I enjoy every aspect of forge, my favorite part of the process is the design part, so that's where I really want to invest whatever time I have. I'll probably eventually end up making an adoption thread, where I can post any completed blockouts for other people to adopt/complete. Of course, this is assuming that there will be people interested in focusing solely on the artistic part of the process. If it turns out there's not much interest in taking on my designs, I honestly don't know what I'll do. Maybe I'll just design stuff and never post it, lol. @Sn1p3r C directed CF towards your project. If there are any takers on our team I'll reach back out man. The design looks great though. And this is pretty much how our process already works so it could be really easy and we can then utilize the rest of the team as a resource to help out when need be. Either way I hope that something does come of it. It looks like a solid project.
I've already got a sexy idea for your map, "which makes me all wet". ^^ So if there's nobody at CF, who has the time to add an artpass at the moment, I would gladly help you. I don't think I need to prove of what I am capable of. Cheers.
Making the artpass for 'Wet Dream' - Update 1 Because of the high ceilings on WD I immediately thought of a church/cathedral theme. I don't want to go for that dark gothic type of churches you see in Bloodborne for example, I'd rather go for that brighter look in Assassin's Creed 2. So what I'm going to do is exchanging the current blockout with a new more evolved blockout and after that adding small aesthetics and making overall improvements to lighting etc.. Making the artpass for 'Wet Dream' - Update 2 It is going very well so far, I'm at ~800 pieces and ~40% lightmap. I'm having so many ideas for this map. Still making the 'evolved blockout', no major aesthetics or lighting. In case you've been wondering, don't worry, this map will not just consist of grey tones. ^^ Such colored windows were really expensive in the Middle Age. I wanna make a mosaic or a painting here, it feels too empty and plain. The ceiling on the back right is gonna connect with the one in the foreground, making it a T. The shores of those two big parts are not gonna be parallel. Or maybe they are? I don't know yet. Due to some feedback I changed the snipe spawn a little bit making it less clusterful, hopefully. Let's see what Chunk says. They are great eyecatchers, add extra colour to the map and increase the overall readability of the map] The other half of the map is gonna be damaged from a strong storm. The three main views out of the map build a triangle: Life (Green window, tree on the outside), Death (Grave yard on the destroyed part of the map) and Faith (Purple window, waterfall on the outside). I don't believe in God by the way. ^^
It's looking great Buddy. Your adjustments to the Sniper area looks fine, so no worries there. Just as an aside, the Sniper area should be a cluster****...in games with random teams. I wouldn't expect a team of randoms to be able to control that part of the map for a significant stretch of time. With elevated platforms on two sides, a team would need to control both platforms to be able to hold down that area. That should be easier said than done, but still possible for an organized team that's used to playing together. So yeah, Sniper area is working as intended.
You're such a troll... Genesis is gonna have one of the most realisitc atmospheres and lighting in this game. Readability is gonna be sick, too, so don't worry.
Quick update of where we are right now: Weapon Layout: Rocket Launcher [Weapon Pad, 180s respawn, 1 spare clip, 4 shots] Sniper Rifle [Weapon Pad, 120s respawn, 1 spare clip, 8 shots] Damage Boost [90s respawn, 60s duration] Two Covenant Carbines [60s respawn, 3 spare clips, 80 shots] Song Of Peace [60s respawn, 4 spare clips] Four Frag Grenades [30s respawn] Theme: One segment of a much bigger monastery complex for the monks to meditate and pray in. These rooms lead access to the crypt of the ancestors. Seats are placed in case the monks need to sit down and rest. Not accessible to the common folk. Visuals: Sniper Rifle spawn Rocket Launcher spawn Blue Team spawn Red Team spawn Damage Boost spawn Weapon layout is being tested right now. Speed Boost got switched with Damage Boost, Plasma Rifle got excluded and the strongholds got some minor adjustments. @Max Extra , @Duke of Mearl and @xdemption , it would be much appreciated if you guys could test this new version of Genesis in your lobbies. This map looks overly dark in pictures but in game it looks fantastic. I think you did an amazing job with it @Buddy Jumps
Totally agree. I'm generally not a fan of anything that has a negative impact on gameplay. For that reason, I typically dislike dark maps. I think Buddy's done a excellent job of adding atmosphere without hurting things like depth perception and player acquisition that usually suffer on darker maps.
