Hey there fellow forgers! So it goes almost without saying that Halo 5 is really lacking in a variety of core-orientated gametypes. Sure there are plenty of wild and cool casual custom games to check out, but what about some more competitive-ish things to play.

Enter Buddy-Ball, a four-way 2v2 Oddball variant designed to be action packed and entertaining all the same. Much like in Oddball, you must hold the ball to earn points but there are a few twists in Buddy-Ball. The Ball carrier receives a few handicaps and thus, must rely on their teammate to cover those holes.

Buddy-Ball is meant to be a three-way hybrid between Oddball, Multi-Team and VIP. The goal was to create a custom game with heavy core elements that still allows for moments of casual and random play. Multi-Team is an under appreciated Halo classic and In Halo 5, I feel it's a nice break from the run of the mill RvB setup.

    - How it Works -
Like stated before, this is an Oddball variant with a few twists. What are the twists? I'll lay it all out for you:

    Score to Win: 200
Scoring: 5pts every 3 second interval
    Time Limit: 12 Minutes

Teams: Four Unique Teams, Two Players per team
    Player Count: 6 - 8 Players

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    Carrier Traits:

    90% Movement and Jump
    No Radar
No Natural Shield or Health Regeneration
    Permanent m
    arker while ball is held

    Full Overshield
    1.5 Health Percentage
10% Shiled Regen when damage is dealt
40% Health Regen when damage is dealt
    Insta-kill Melee

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    Unique Factors:

    SMG and Mag starts
    No points for kills
    30 Second Ball Spawn
Ball is allowed to be idle for 60 seconds

    - Compatibility -
Buddy-Ball is built to be user friendly, entertaining and most importantly, versatile. Buddy-Ball is compatible with any map that supports four unique teams and features a neutral ball spawn. Realistically, any map that supports Assault or Oddball and Multi-Team should fully support Buddy-Ball.

    - I Need YOUR Help -
A gametype is null without people to play it. I would love to hear your thoughts on the gametype. It could potentially help me improve it as well! I'd also like to build a list of compatible maps as well for people to try out. If your map would support Buddy-Ball, please consider dropping some info and a link below so others, myself included, can check it out!

Like always I wanna hear your thoughts. Would you play it? If you have, did you enjoy it? Would you play it on the regular? Be sure to drop a Bookmark and Like!

Oooo I really want to give this a try. I love new core gametype experiences. I'm curious how the no health gen factors in. It feels like it will encourage more ball passing as well as escorting. But how often does the ball carrier really regen health from damage?

People don't throw the ball, considering they only have a partner they have ended up trying to stick together. I've only seen the ball thrown off the map to prevent the enemy from scoring for 30 seconds. Ball carrier has slowest shield recharge speed possible. Most people just drop the ball quickly to regen.

I wasn't meaning throw it away, I was meaning passing it to their teammate to give them the chance to regen while their team still carries the ball and holds OS.

I do miss oddball, and this seems like a fun variant. I don't know why but 3v3v3 sounds a little more appealing for this, but that's just a guess. Do we have the old option of making players automatically pickup the ball? That bit of strategy was often fun.
