I don't understand why development cycle is used to rate a forger. What does creating a map at a certain pace have anything to do with skill? I thought forging was an art. Art has no time limit.
One of Demption's greatest strengths is his rapid iteration cycle, whereas someone like me has traditionally spent longer before bringing maps to a playable state. Regardless, I didn't rate anyone. I simply listed my opinion on their strengths and weaknesses. I felt that generic terms would more easily convey that as opposed to long and winded descriptions of each individual, but either way would benefit Forgers more than an arbitrarily assigned numerical value for comparisons.
How about this as a rating scale: Do they make maps I enjoy playing? Yes/No Do the maps look pretty? Yes/No Does anyone give a ****? Yes/No
From that standpoint I agree. It could certainly be a strength or weakness. It couldn't be used to determine someone's ability though.
Alright, I can actually take credit for that. Gotta give @Given To Fly and @MultiLockOn credit for pushing me to do my own buildings.
What is ability though? Everyone has the ability to produce something great provided they put in the time to learn how to do it, and have the mindset to keep learning if they don't.
Skills are learned. Does everyone have natural talent to play like Hendrix or Prince? No, but you can still learn the ****ing guitar. If we want to start rating people on talent then we're going to need a large collection of works. Nobody compares one hit wonders to legends.
