Could anyone tell me what's wrong with my ball gametype? In the game it's supporting there are four teams. Somehow nobody out of any team can pick up the ball, even though it's not phased or anything. ^^ It's like right there, you can see it, but you can't pick it up.
It's very, very, VERY close to being done. I'd be extremely surprised if it weren't posted by the time the file browser drops.
Coruscant from Star Wars too for more inspiration. https://www.google.com/search?q=cor...vfLOAhUGJx4KHdvCBhYQ_AUICCgB&biw=1920&bih=945 --- Double Post Merged, Sep 3, 2016 --- Also, I haven't gotten to the point of finishing a map in a while... can someone tell me what tricks there are to turning light bake off of objects?
If I had a dollar for every time someone said they were "gonna blow your mind" or "you ain't seen nothing yet" only to have them never deliver I wouldn't have the time to be checking back with this damn forum.
Light baking an object calculates its effect on its surroundings and stores them in memory so that once rendered, the value of the lighting remains the same. When an object has light bake on, it is brightened and it casts local shadows and receives ambient occlusion (the darker shadows found in creases and corners). Lightmap represents how much "memory" the game is storing. That is why when you go over it, some objects start to turn black, or otherwise lose their stored values. When an object is light bake off, the only lighting affecting it is the dynamic lighting from the global lighting source. In forge, when you turn light bake off on an object, one of two things will happen: If the majority of the object is being touched by the global lighting, either directly or from ambient, bounce or scattering, it will receive even and uniform illumination across the entire object. (While the lighting tools we have are primitive in nature, the global lighting system simulates real lighting to enough of an extent that it bounces off of objects to illuminate a space.) However, if the object is hidden behind objects with light bake on, and therefore in their shadows, it will be darkened. Ideally, you want light bake on objects comprising the walls, floors and ceilings of your map. They will cast shadows and allow you to turn objects below them off. However, if the objects below are receiving a lot of global lighting, they will be fully illuminated even if they are within the light bake shadows. If you want complete control over the lighting on your map, build it under the cave on Glacier or enclose it in a box of chroma screens. Both methods completely block ambient and global lighting, allowing you to manipulate shadows with the objects themselves. This obviously means that any object that does not have light bake on at that point will be very dark and require local lighting. The easiest way to remember it is this: If you want it bright, turn lightbake on. If you want it dark, turn it off and make sure it is not being touched by global light. If you want the whole map dark and you want to light the map locally, use glacier cave or chroma screen box. Unfortunately, we cannot use point lights or spot lights to create shadows. Only objects can create shadows with light baking.
Why would you need pictures of this? ^^ The ball is not phased, neutral team, gametype label on 'ball: include spawn'. Maybe it's the gametype, though...
For the record, I want my mind to be blown, & I want to see stuff that "I ain't seen yet". But it's like after every interview Demption has he says "you ain't seen nothing yet" & multi has stated he's gonna blow our minds more than once, & I've heard Goat say it too. Please do it, don't say it. DO EET!!!
I am going to do the reverse of blow your minds, I am going to put more minds into your head. GRANT US EYES
For me, it's kind of like empty hype. It's like some forgers think they have to have some top secret marketing schemes to generate excitement. I'm not impressed with words, I'm impressed with visuals. You're telling me after months and months of hyping future projects, you don't have a single screen cap of the map? At least Goat gives us some concept art to put the visual in our heads. I get people forge at their own speeds and no one is entitled to a look into a unfinished map, but if you feel that way, don't try to generate hype with buzzwords. A picture is worth a thousand words
I don't ever remember saying that before :/ I probably have though lol, I'll drop a screenie today for you though it's like photo realistic lighting
