Hey everyone,
ForgeHub has recently under-gone some changes in the site systems, as well as optimizations, etc. We’ll discuss all of the changes, and also some other features that we are planning on finishing soon. Read on to find out!
The first, and more prominent of these updates is the changes we’ve made to the title system. From now on, everyone’s title will change as time goes on. This means that the pesky “New Member” title that everyone gets from day one won’t stay on a user’s profile for more than three months. Better yet, the new titles are Halo-themed. We’re really excited to get these changes up and running, and we hope you’re happy with them too. Also, our changes toyed around with site permissions, so if you’re experiencing any problems with permissions, please contact any of the staff members and we’ll help you out.
NEW MEMBER TITLES
- New Member (0)
- Rookie (3 months) *Might be changed to Recruit (6 months)*
- Marine (1 year)
- ODST (2 years)
- ONI Agent (3 years)
- Spartan I (4 years)
- Spartan II (5 years)
- Spartan III (6 years)
- Heroic (7years)
- Legendary (8 years)
- Mythic (10 years)
- Promethean (11 years)
- Forerunner (13 years)
- Ancient (15 years)
The other major change that occurred this month is a refresh and fix of our Community Favorites system. We’ve implemented some modifications to the way that maps are selected, so maps are chosen based on multiple different factors that influence popularity. We’ll be monitoring these changes over the next few months and adjust accordingly as we see fit. As a matter of fact, you can vote right now! Head on over to the Maps Section of our site and click on “Vote Now!” to vote.
That’s all of the changes we’ve made this month, however let’s look toward the future. As mentioned earlier, we’re going to be monitoring Community Favorites and making changes as needed. We also plan to support the sharing of Forge Pre-fabs, and we’ll be sharing more on that as we get closer to Sept. 8. As always, you can expect more map features and new written content to enjoy over the next few weeks.
Oh, and one more thing. It’s been a few weeks, but Nitro, our latest administrator, has a few words to introduce himself:
“Good Afternoon ForgeHub,
By now we all know that Chunk has stepped down from being a Forgehub Administrator last week. Don't be too sad, he's still around doing things like we all enjoy doing. He's also been a good friend to me and I want to thank him publicly for doing an amazing job as an admin during his time as a ForgeHub Staff member. Chunk has been one of those active members in the ForgeHub community that everyone has at least spoken to once. Whether it was him greeting you to the site, simply pointing you to the direction for something that you needed, or telling you that you need to take a timeout and cool off. I know he plans on sticking around to continue his work, but has decided to leave staff on a good note. So thanks Chunk! I have some big shoes to fill.
With that I would like to introduce myself, my name is Matt. Most of you all have come to know me as Nitro over the years. As for some of the community members here, we go as far back to the MLG Forums, The Lan Network, The Halo Council and even here over the past 8 years with you guys, and it's been a blast and you all have helped in many different ways. I've literally have grown up around the Forge community. Some of you have mentored me into being a better level designer and kept me in check when I was a moderator at THC.
So I would like to give you a little bit on my non-Halo professional experience. Currently a Master Sergeant in the Air National Guard. I have over 10 years of experience in Networking & Security, 1 year as an System Administrator, and almost 2 years as a Network Operation Center technician. I also have Associates Degree in Computer Science and plan on continuing that, next year. This list goes on with certifications and complete courses, but this isn't LinkedIn so I am not going to bore you with all of that.
Going forward with my new role here at ForgeHub, I plan on continuing the work that Chunk has laid out for Sir Iron Wolf and I. With that, if anyone has any questions, thoughts, or ideas that you would like to see here at ForgeHub, let me know.
Have a good one everyone,
Nitro”
That’s all we have for this month, but look forward to more content and more site updates. Once again, thank you all for supporting ForgeHub and the Forge community.
