Does anyone have any suggestions for this? I'm new to Forge and never have experimented with it until I saw what HALO 5 has to offer. I've never understood how Forge works either but it looks interesting and I wish to learn. I hope to fiddle around with it when released to the PC.

How can I find them/reach them? I'm looking for something more than that though. I'm looking to make a playable map and such.

Your question is vague. Do you want help in the discussion of aesthetics? Map balance? Themes?

Perhaps you can get inspiration through osmosis? Look for "military base" maps on here, reddit and halo customs, etc. Bookmark them, load them in forge and deconstruct how people craft things. Think of it as listening to music to get inspired to lay down your own track.

OK. I'll do that but first I'd need a new GPU which I hope to be able to order this week. I don't have an Xbox One either. So as you can see I'm a bit on the disadvantage side. As it is, I like your Excalibur map Toastman.
Anyways, what tips can you give me for map balance and aesthetics?
Also, I couldn't download maps even if I wanted to because of my Xbox privacy settings. I don't know how to change them. Do I have to do it on a console?

OH! Yes you currently need an xbox since Halo 5 isn't out on PC yet. You didn't say you didn't have the game haha :) You xbox privacy settings you are mentioning just be referring to the Xbox app then?

Yes I'm talking about the Xbox app. I apologize for not adding that little fact. I was just trying to get stuff into perspective so when H5 comes out to PC on Sept. 8th I would have a rough idea of how to make it though it seems like the inspiration really comes when you're actually in Forge...

well everyone gets it in different ways. My approach to starting a new map is soak up tons of pictures of whatever theme I am are going for. It gives me perspective into construction. (Of course there is no planetary laser on earth so I winged Excalibur out of my head-mind-brain-thingy) I like my maps to sell their themes very hard. I try to give narrative purpose to each room and observing real life locations help me to figure that out. Then once my theme is decided, I get excited to translate that into the limits of Forge.

Along the way, I try to keep the map FUN (this is important). I don't tend to make my maps super try hard competitive, but the important bullet points of balance cannot be ignored. Weapon fairness per team, spawn distances from power zones and weapons, spawning setups being intuitive and not facing walls, etc.

I find that I do best at helping peoples' specific questions. Broad requests of direction or inspiration isn't something I answer well.

@CommanderThaum your best bet is to actually collect reference images of structures. Use those as sort of inspiration. Study the texturing, the coloring style, the lighting, the accented details, the overall shape, etc.

With Forge it is possible to re-create those feels as long as you notice the right details. I HIGHLY suggest you start collecting some reference images and just adding them to the OP and that should help people suggest things. Especially with the new prefab system coming out some people may actually be able to replicate something in the reference images for you to use when you get on. :)

@CommanderThaum Welcome to FH! With Halo 5 Forge, a lot has changed since the release of Forge for Halo 5. Take some time getting used to the tool. Look at others examples. Like @Ray Benefield mentioned, try to replicate ideas from pictures that you searched for. I personally am not the best at making things pretty, but I have seen some amazing stuff produced with this tool. Look forward to checking out what you make!

I would personally recommend downloading some of the best maps from the community, loading them up in forge and identifying how the map was constructed via reverse engineering. This was how I became interested in forge, by looking at other peoples work and admiring the level of care, craft and artistry required to make something truly special. You'll be surprised by some of the creative piece usage or combinations of structure, lights, etc. Just dive straight in and hopefully you'll be able to dissect enough maps to figure out how to be creative in your own way. Here's one place to start: http://www.forgehub.com/maps/featured

I've already bookmarked some maps that I wish to download. But first thing is first: does anyone else know how to change Xbox privacy settings so I can download maps? Microsoft won't allow me to download maps 'cause of privacy settings.

I've been trying to do so, but it keeps redirecting me to an article. Maybe it's because I'm not quite 18 yet....

I believe that prefabs will be available Friday so u could look up military themed prefabs and spawn them on your map to use also on YouTube there are a bunch of tutorials including one on forgehub that have tanks. But just try to put pieces together and try to see what u can make. That is the only way to learn.

It is. 343 has said so but my PC doesn't meet min specs. I need a new GPU to be equal to min specs. Happens all the time now when something new comes out. And I was hoping to get my new GPU this week but half of what I was counting on fell through.
