    ANNOUNCING ANVIL'S LEGACY

September is going to be a pretty busy – and very exciting – month for Halo fans, with some awesome new experiences heading your way on multiple fronts! From bringing the crazy creativity of Forge to Windows 10 PCs, to releasing more exciting new free content for Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One, to a brand new Windows 10 PC Halo app, Halo fans are going to have some shiny new toys to get their virtual hands on come September 8.

    FORGING AHEAD
    [IMG]

Back in May, we announced that Halo 5: Forge was coming to Windows 10 PCs. 343 Industries, alongside our friends at SkyBox Labs, are proud to help usher in a brand new era for our talented and creative community, bringing Halo 5: Guardians’ entire Forge level-creation experience to Windows 10 PCs, along with a host of awesome new features, including mouse and keyboard support, 4k resolution display capability, a brand new content browser that makes showcasing and sharing your creations easier than ever before, and the ability play your creations with friends online.

Host and play custom matches for up to 16 players on Windows 10, or share your games with the community for play in Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One. Whether you’re customize existing creations or inventing brand new ones, Halo 5: Forge on Windows 10 opens the floodgates to incredible new possibilities in Halo 5: Guardians and beyond.

    ANVIL’S LEGACY
Launching alongside Halo 5: Forge on Sep 8 will be the ninth, free content release for Halo 5: Guardians – Anvil’s Legacy, which includes some exciting new additions on several fronts, from new toys to play with – and new places to use them – to new ways to share and experience community creations.

    FORGE CONTENT BROWSER
The Anvil’s Legacy free content release brings easily one of the most eagerly-anticipated features to Halo 5: Guardians – a robust new Forge Content Browser. This incredible new tool allows players to search for, highlight, discover, share, and play their favorite Forge creations more easily than ever before.

The Halo 5: Guardians Forge Content Browser not only supports custom maps and game modes, but also the ability to share and discover brand new Forge Object Groups – a new feature designed to streamline the creative process by letting players save pre-fabricated object groups such as buildings, bases, and much more. With the new Forge Content Browser for Halo 5: Forge and Halo 5: Guardians, build and share your creations across both Windows 10 and Xbox One platforms for an all-access pass to a nearly infinite array of awesome new experiences.

    NEW ARENA AND WARZONE MAPS
Anvil’s Legacy also adds two new multiplayer maps to Halo 5: Guardians – both set on the Elite homeworld of Sanghelios: Mercy and Temple. Mercy is a beautiful new Arena multiplayer playspace that combines contested corridors with a mix of open sightlines. Temple is a brand new large-scale battleground built from the ground up with Warzone Assault in mind.

    NEW REQS
Anvil’s Legacy includes several new REQ for players to collect, including new weapons, attachments, weapon and armor skins, and more. Some fan favorite armors get a new coat of paint, and a new Magnum loadout lets Spartans pack a new powerful punch in a nice convenient package.

    THE HALO APP
Also launching on Sep 8 alongside Halo 5: Forge on Windows 10 PC will be the brand new Halo app, which lets you quickly and easily find, download, and launch Halo games available on Windows PCs, all while providing players with the latest news, videos, tutorials, featured community content, update notes, and more from across the entire Halo universe. We’ll have much more on the Halo app coming up very soon, so stay tuned!

No matter what flavor of Halo experience you enjoy, September will be a month to remember. From the launch of Halo 5: Forge on Windows 10 PC and the Anvil’s Legacy content release for Halo 5: Guardians on Xbox One, to the next chapter in Halo esports with the Halo Championship Series’ new season and upcoming additions to the Halo universe with Halo Mythos and Halo: Fractures, there’s something for every Halo fan to look forward to. We'll have even more details to share later this week on HaloWaypoint.com in the Halo Community Update – we can't wait to see you there!

If I'm honest, Haven itself was actually pretty nice looking in its simplicity.

This version is nice, but I hope the density and details don't get too distracting, especially that whole waterfall portal thing in the distance.

Any date mentioned for Windows 10 Forge? I didn't see one.

I think the article says its coming at the same time, at least I thought it did

Yeah, I found it. It's called Halo 5: Forge, it isn't referred to as WIndows 10 Forge, but it is the same thing

Isn't "Forge" a better name? Wait, was there ever an X-Man named "Tom"?

      ----------
Do they have to bring the entire Forge experience to pc? Can't they leave the nastiest broken junk out?

I can't even tell which Halo 4 map this new one is a remake for, based on that picture. Was Haven the circular gray forerunner-looking one? I liked the vertical play on that one, particularly the little drops around the outer ring.

I think I might've liked Complex the best from 4. I think that was the name of the one with the computer room, kitchen, garage, factory (?), etc. The spaces had character, maybe in more of a functional way (I'm no good with aesthetics). I think the fact that my wonky brain remembers any of it is telling. Was that one any good, or am I totally out of sync again?

So you're like the Medusa of Forge maps? Glad you don't look at my maps. And that I have no remotely finished or pretty maps. Or anything to show for my life. That'll show you! Watch out for Forge Perseus though. Was it Perseus that offed Medusa?

This is probably the most disappointed I've been yet. At first I was like, "yeah prefabs are cool"... But then I realized that it's pretty much useless unless you like to steal things.

      Oh, and Haven's back.

It's not the hardware requirements, it's the 1.21 Gigawatts of power. :D

I'm referring to Haven coming back. It was a bad map in H4; it will be a bad map in H5.

If you can clamber from the bottom floor to the top, it *might* play better than the original, but it's still going to be a boring, flat Horseshoe with the least imaginative respawn areas ever designed on a Halo map. The phrase "Haven Ramp" is literally synonomous with bad ramp design when I'm giving feedback to people.

Despite my jibs about it looking a little like the Hive, it doesn't look bad, I think It does look gorgeous, the first aesthetic for a Arena Dev map I like.

Its detailed, but clean, feels good

      But it's still Haven

Here I am, I work from home, I RDP into work comp and have the ability to forge off of my main PC... Definitely going to take so resilience to not forge at work.

Here's my only issue, why do we always feel the need to complain whenever 343 gives us something? :p

      http://www.actforlibraries.org/psychology-of-complaining-reasons-why-people-complain/

It's always seemed to me like people are more likely to complain about something they receive for free as opposed to something they've paid for. I think people generally unconsciously assume that if something is free it has little value. If a person pays for something, they're more likely to defend it. Of course, these are all generalizations. Sometimes it's as simple as the fact that people complain because they don't like something or because they like it less than other people and want to share their perspective.

Why do people always feel the need to complain about other people's complaining? (Sorry, I couldn't resist :p)

Regarding the Prefabs, I think there's quite a large percentage of people that share the view that using them is 'cheap' or against their 'forging morals'. It's not too surprising considering the fact that to this point in forge we've always had to create our own maps in their entirety. Probably partially as a result of this, there's an ingrained belief that taking ideas from other forgers is tantamount to stealing, and stealing is probably the worst thing a person can do in the forge community...where a persons creativity and ingenuity is a big part of what sets them apart from other forgers.

I've personally always gone against the grain in my perspective on this as compared to a lot of the rest of the forge community. I've always considered imitation to be the greatest form of flattery. I've welcomed people to copy any ideas I may have put into my own work, and I've defended a persons right to 'copy' aspects of other people's work.

I see it as being somewhat comparable to how a person that's accustomed to using a program like Maya or Unreal Editor (where they have to create all of their shapes/structures completely from scratch) would view forge in general (where we have no choice but to use preexisting pieces to create every single inch of our virtual playspaces). They'd likely view it as taking the easy way out, and not have much respect for people that use it. Is there some validity to that perspective? Sure. Do I care? Absolutely zero ****s given here.

I'll never avoid utilizing any of the tools at my disposal, because it's not the individual aspects of a map that determine its value or quality, it's the 'whole' that matters.

I'm going to be that guy, sorry.

Haven may be the best map in halo 4 but it is easily forgable and is still one of the worst maps in the series. Why not remake a map like construct that would both compliment the way halo 5 plays, add a new style to the roster and not be easily recreated in forge?

2, why a hunter cannon? We still don't have a constant beam weapon or knock back weapon in the sand box and it looks gimmicky and like it'll not work on any map that isn't designed around it.

Other stuff is neat at least though, I guess.

Really happy about forge on pc. Now I won't have to stop forging to let my brother play mm and I've always wanted the ability to forge while away from home. A lot of people will be getting more forging done more easily which is great. I look forward to the change in the flow of things within the forge community that this and the new file browser will probably incite :forge:
