    Hey doods.

I think I'm ready to share some information about my next project.

A few weeks ago, while fixing a few things on Freakshow and hearing some feedback from Canadian Echo, he told that while Freakshow was a good first attempt at infection, and was an interesting theme, it was flawed in many ways by design. He suggested I take the theme, push it further and come up with a more interesting layout. So thats what I set out to do.

Before I go any further, heres some pics. The map is in my files as HW2. Currently its just a block out, but tonight I kind of finished it (apart from the main gates, which will be a surprise ;) ) so aesthetics will be coming very soon.

(Btw, this middle lane looks really open right now, but a lot of the aesthetics I plan on adding also serve as LOS blockers)

    Welcome to Happy World!

I'll go into everything in way more detail when I make the map thread, so I'll try to keep this short.
The idea for Happy World came from a lot of my initial designs for Freakshow, as well as the desire to turn Happy Land (side of the road carnival) to Happy World (theme park).

Additionally, its a simplified version of Canada's Wonderland with a Disney castle instead of a mountain. Seriously look at this, I stole this ****...

Originally, Freakshow was much more of a permanent, "built" up theme park like this new version is, and included the front gardens and all of the buildings on the map, but my low confidence in my forging ability shoved those ideas off because I thought I'd run out of budget.

But after getting used to the aesthetics with Freakshow, the increased budget, and creating an entire block out and scrapping it (over-scaled), I think I've finally got it. All the structure and geometry on the map is complete, and I still have about 600 objects for visuals and gameplay stuff  My only gameplay concern is that it might be too big, but testing will prove that or not. If it does play too big, I'll make it a BTB.

I'm kind of stuck on a name right now. The "lore" name is Happy World, but that doesn't make for a great map name. I was thinking Amusement, but thats a little bland.

If anyone likes the map, has feedback, or has a question, ask away :)

Ummm, I don't think that's how overscaled Infection maps work :p

I'll make it work dammit! Could you take a look and tell me if it does feel too big?

Keep in mind what I said about the middle lane being not as open after I finish the visuals.

So I just saw these (released yesterday I think)

****. First people were accusing me of ripping off Carnival in MW2, now ill be ripping off Call of Duty and Fallout. Great :tedium: Visually, if I was to compare, my map will be more similar to Fallout's theme park. But mainly, I'm going off of memory/google street view of my local theme park, Canada's Wonderland. Heres a really old (80's picture) of the fountains and some of the main street buildings:

In map news, I'm redesigning the left (ferris wheel) side. No pics yet. It isn't finished, but I can say that the heavily-requested roller coaster will be added. New map file too, HW3. I'm working on the redesign tonight, hopefully be done by tomorrow :)

    Big update.

Basically, I wasn't happy with the left side of the map. It was very flat and not very fun. It was decent visually, but with my extra pieces I wanted to push it.

So I redesigned it, heres an overview (it's kind of hard to see cause of fog, but I'm going to take a top view screenshot of the map without fog so I can photoshop a nice layout picture).

The biggest addition is no doubt Happy Mountain. I've wanted a rollercoaster and a huge mountain for a long time because that is Canada's Wonderland's main centre piece and a roller coaster was like the number 1 request for Freakshow aesthetically. Also, I really wanted to build the most piece-light roller coaster possible lol. Surrounding the mountain is buildings that share a slightly different aesthetic than the rest of the map, as well as being placed on alpine terrain instead of tidal. This is my first attempt at creating little "themed" sections of the map, like a true theme park. The Happy Mountain section is Wild West Land.

Other additions to the left lane include a completely new centre building complex that houses the Merry-Go-Round, better pathing and a newly designed Ferris Wheel holdout. In general, I really wanted to push the verticality and visuals.

The map is almost in BETA (no more changing files btw, when i feel it's in beta, ill save it as a new map, then continue to update only that file). I might still change the inside of the castle, but other than that, the structure, geometry and terrain are complete.

I have about 300 blocks for aesthetics and gameplay stuff

Frame rate is still giving me trouble, but I'm working on it. I really want this to be good.
