    I actually do say nice stuff, I just don't say such often. I'm not a fan of meaningless praise or nicety for the sake of niceties.

    Thanks for the sweet segue into me posting this gif that I can't chop the loading screen off of for some reason.

    It's almost done but not quite, I've got to add assault (though I hate assault but whatever), make some spawns slayer only, and add static spawn zones for ctf/assault. Also bummed that the game won't let me have team-only intro cameras. They want at least one neutral or else none of them work, so I have two intro scenes of the opposing team's side which bugs me but whatever.
    Also, anyone who tries to push this for anything more than that remake playlist is crazy. The height increase on the map that I had to make to block bum-jumping and skill jumps of the like make this map likely unplayable on the highest competitive level.

    As for the guardian, yeah, rip. It's basically an aesthetic map at this point since elbow's frames are pretty depressing.

    Another nice thing about this remake is the jump to Ring 3. It's actually moderately difficult, like back in H2, rather than the super easy bullshit that we've had since Reach. Oh, and raised carbine bridges. Thank god.

    Ground is a tad flat still, but at least it's not coli wall flat. ;)

    Damn that is looking good. I think with you're background of making Champion, knowing how maps are going to play competitively will definitely help with those nerdy jumps to ring 3. I haven't personally looked at it, but from the looks of it in the gif, definitely looks like Sanc.

    How well does it play with H5 mechanics? Thrust, Sprint, Clamber, etc.

    Probably plays bad to be perfectly honest. I mentioned earlier that I had to increase the height of the structures on the map to prevent clambering onto everything. While I haven't tested the map yet (actually just 'finished' it, like, right now), from the looks of it, the elevation difference between the ground and the structures would make for some very unbalanced vertical combat. I had to block certain clamber areas where I could with invisible blockers because I felt they would break the map. I'm not sure what toll thrust would take, really clamber was my biggest enemy. Basically I had to decide that being able to clamber up to any level of the map willy-nilly would be more broken than having a difficult time fighting upper levels of the map at close range. Both options really suck though, just one isn't as noticeable on a lower level of play.

    @A 3 Legged Goat the waterfalls have all dried up. global warming you know? halo 2 was a long time ago ;)

    I'm considering putting clamber blockers everywhere and making the height difference less significant between levels. Problem is the clamber blockers can be sketchy as hell (inconsistent).

    Regarding clamber, I recommend making the height just high enough where the basic jump-crouch-clamber won't reach, but the sprint-jump-stabalize-ghandihop will. This keeps the movement on the map relatively structural, as players won't be clambering around all willy-nilly as you put it, but still allows for a tad bit more fluidity in movement on the map. Probably won't be anywhere near as fluid as H2A Sanc with that stupid jump up from Court to Car. Should also help with allowing you to lower the structures a bit so that you don't have the awkward engagements that the higher heights are causing like you stated.

    They should have just added a double jump instead of a clamber. Maybe then we wouldn't have to waste a million invisible barriers blocking 10 pixels' worth of geometry that you could climb on.

    Bad mechanic is bad.

    The height difference between those kinds of jumps are relatively minimal. I don't remember the numbers exactly, but I know bum-jumping is possible at 24', and pro-jumping+crouch is somewhere around 21' or something, and that jump is honestly so easy to do. Good news is the anti-clamber invis blockers seem to be doing their job and I can probably raise the map to an acceptable level for combat. Even if they are inconsistent at times, the best they really have to be is inconsistent, as most players won't bank on being able to clamber if 9/10 times they can't. But then we get into thrust boosting off of rocks and soaring everywhere, which is also shitty, but whatever. thanks 343

    I can't think of a map named Hearth. This one is inspired by a map I never finished which was inspired by Baron's Halo 3 map, Reverance.

    Everyone seems to like this area on my map

    But i've decided that i'm going to delete the castle. It's a budget hog and I can't make the waterfalls look good while it is sitting there so it's done. I'll think of something else.

    I liked it, but always thought you could do better than it in that spot. I never said anything though because you never would have posted the damn thing.

    I just don't have any ideas. The waterfalls are supposed to be the centerpiece of that area. And yea it was cool to have a castle there but that's a million objects i could use elsewhere and in its place have something that better showcases the waterfalls.

    Not that I created this method of building waterfalls, but this map was always slated to feature them as a set piece, so I'd like to do it right.

    That pocket created an 'appendix on the map that people were camping in to wait for OS, and then trying to use to jump back up the rock. There's too much dead space under the teleporter exit to put it back. Besides, if you can drop down from there, then why would anyone go down low to grab it when they can sit on the rock to wait for it to spawn?
