I have an overactive imagination when it comes to the amazing possibilities with Halo 5's Forge. So much that I can't seem to focus on one map (or atleast one idea) in particular for very long. I have too many cool ideas. I was working on another map I was gonna submit to the Hub of the Dead contest, but I may not get back to it at this rate. I'll start on one cool map idea, then suddenly get some cool idea and start building on that. It's an endless circle I tell ya. Cool idea, build, another cool idea, build start on that one, another cool idea, etc... At some point I'll get all these ideas out and I won't know what to do with my time lol. Does anyone else have this problem?
Totally. You don't want to know how many maps I eventually stopped working on halfway through because I got a cool idea for a different map - that of course, in the end didn't get finished either because of another cool idea for another map.
More often than not, and because I forge pretty fast the next idea comes rolling in pretty fast. Currently sitting on 54 prototypes and counting, all with their own identity and layout. It sometimes even keeps me awake at night. But I do not fear this, it is a blessing I am very happy to have.
I have a different problem where I keep working on one "main" map at a time while submitting "side" maps. I submitted my third map first, then my second, then my fourth, then my fifth, then my sixth. Map 1 and map 7 are "main" maps and will be lucky to get out by the time the eighth and ninth are finished, which are "side" maps again. All my side maps are remakes, while my main ones are original forerunner BTB. I look like I have no originality because of this. tldr: My remake drive is overclocked while my original drive has senioritis.
I have a problem where I am severely discouraged and really just can't come up with a nice forge idea anymore, so its kind of the opposite problem.
I also have no problem with ideas, themes and inspiration. There is still so much I haven't done yet. But when it comes to completing a map I'm the guy that doesn't juggle too many maps at the same time, I just focus on the map and other ideas get a small start or a few notes in my phone. I have no unfinished old projects. Some maps need work, but that's another story...
I suffer from too many ideas, no way to completely implement them, getting stuck on one, too many branched off versions, and some started because I chased off after something that was "ooh, shiny!".
We should just go back to h3 where we wouldn't be able to do our cool ideas so we would be forced into one map... maybe not.
I will just say- for me its not too much of an actual problem. I love building new things where as actually completing them is a bit of a pain in the ass
At least you let yourself switch maps before implementing different designs; I just let mine roll on through and hope people aren't left with the impression they just played halo through an inkblot test
Reina, I have the very same problem. It feels like my brain has gone into a Meltdown. Like my maps being left Abandoned. I just need to get my mind into Isolation and focus on this Complex mess of ideas. The Truth is I Regret not finishing any map I start, only to leave them as a Ghost Town. It's like I can't focus on one idea before I get bored, leaving to matchmaking as a Last Resort. Maybe I just need to see my Reflection, something to enSpire me, like the aesthetics of Plaza or Haven. All I need is a motive, like a Sandbox to play in. Just one thing, before I call it quits and send the map into Damnation.
This is me exactly. My mind kind of works like Sarah Winchester's, the woman who built the Winchester Mansion in San Jose, CA. For this reason. I have a queue of unfinished maps in my files (some of which get annoyingly bookmarked by people, but that's another issue). And my brain keeps coming up with ideas that it basically inables me to stay focused because one, I move on to something else. Two, I lack the forge tools or ability to make it or don't know where to start and I just want results instantly. Think "I Dream of Genie" nose twitch instant lol. Three, the flow of ideas is too much for me to handle and I literally become overwhelmed and frustrated and end up making zilch. Or four, I'm slow at figuring out how I want to make something and figure I don't have the time or patience. I just need a team of ten Given to Flys, WyvernZus, xDemptions, etc. to help do my Forge biddings lol. My only completed maps in Halo 5 thus far are my Out of Map Canvases for any combination of these reasons. I REALLY want to finish a map soon. As a sidenote, I think it would be really fun and potentially a good laugh if all of us in this thread started working collectively on a single map where we just build the random stuff that comes into our mind. Not sure of the Forge party size, but even with using the bookmark system and just everybody adding whatever to the map individually could be entertaining. See, here I go with another idea again. Being somewhat of a perfectionist, that would be hell for me. I would want to complete them all and not being able to would drive me insane. I had the problem in Halo 3 and you can change the game, but I'm stuck with this.
I have this problem where I start working on a map and then I look at the time, realize I have to go to uni, and shut down the xbox while slitting my wrists.
