Hello everyone! Just wondering what happened to trait zones that were implemented in Halo 4 and also available in Halo 2: Anniversary. I loved this feature and am very disappointed that they are not in the game! I had several game variants that relied heavily on this feature. If you haven't played Halo 4 or Halo 2: Anniversary- or you just haven't forged much on those titles Trait Zones were Customizable invisible boxes or cylinders that would influence any player's traits that were inside the zone. This was a very handy feature for all gametypes but especially infection and mini-games. If we could get 343's attention and get this item back into forge I would be one happy chicken.
I'm with you on this one. Trait zones give a lot of customization options to us Forgers, especially ones that are team-specific and (preferably) scriptable. Before Forge dropped for H5, I actually had a map planned around trait zones. There was going to be rockets or a sniper on one side of the map, and on the other, a radar dish with a switch. When you pushed the switch, it would spawn trait zones for your teams all around the map that would increase your team's radar range and give you enhanced radar... basically a radar power-up as a balance to a traditional power weapon. But, without them, that idea will never come to fruition. =(
Trait zones, radius triggers and custom power ups are all things that are missing would really help with many things. I've been tweeting tom every month pretty much since forges release, so who knows what's going on, --- Double Post Merged, Jun 12, 2016 --- In halo 3 I had an mlg variant where custom power up was radar and it worked awesome. But I think an entire team would be overkill.
I think the range would have to be balanced with enhanced radar. Enhanced radar for the whole team works great with the old range, but it's not nearly as helpful with the new shorter range. I agree that both might be overkill, but how do you think just increasing one team's range would be helpful?
I'm not sure increasing it would incentivize a pickup enough honestly. I don't think we should have radar by default. louder footsteps and a radar power up would be good because once the radar is picked up, the pace of the game will completely change. Making it a larger range probably wouldn't change much.
