So I'm making my first map (Thanks for the congratulations. Anyway,) the map I'm making has a highway and I want the cars to be scripted to go forward a bit then do a 180 and then come back down the road again and do another 180 and it does this over and over again and I want the cars to go somewhat fast (like 50-60 mph to picture it) I've been trying to script a car but it keeps messing up like turning super fast, teleporting, moving in different directions constantly and I've looked on YouTube and other places if people have tried to do something like this but I found nothing. Is it possible if someone could give me instructions on how to do this and or help me step by step? If it works after getting help I'll put your gamer tag into the map description when I publish it. Please and thank you!
You cant do that but I can set up a script that would look more nicer and believable depending on the angle the highway is on
Oh my goodness thanks soooooooooooo much!! If your online right now please give me your gt and we can start this right away! Wait no, I think you can do that! Let me first give you a huuuge disclaimer and say that since the last update, the scripting has been total-I mean just complete, utter, unbelievable- crap. Until the next update or until they fix this I've actually given up on scripting. It really is that bad. SO if you do decide to pursue this anyways, expect disappointment and make frequent 'save as's. Let's just start with scripting one car at a constant velocity, and if that actually works you can try doing it with multiple ones (and possibly changing speed). Second disclaimer: I'm not home right now (otherwise I would just make a video doing it myself), buuuut aahhhh this should work. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Okay so all you really need to do for this is 1) make the car move consistently forward, and 2) make the car turn every set number of seconds. >First, spawn your car of choice. Set the physics to phased, and for the sake of the example put it on a large flat surface. (obviously, make sure the orientation is parallel to the surface) >Next, add 2 scripts to that car and set the condition on both to "on timer." >Go into the first script. Set the repeat timer to 10 seconds and the initial delay to 5 seconds. >Then, set the action to rotate offset 180 degrees (yaw, I believe) and make that last 5 seconds. >If you let go of the car it should turn around every 10 seconds. Grab that car. >Next, go into the second script and set the initial delay to 0 seconds, the repeat timer to 10 seconds, and set the action to move offset. >Set the movement to forward, 100 feet or whatever, and set the amount of time it takes to 10 seconds as well. MAKE SURE the local movement is turned on, otherwise it won't work. >Let go of that puppy. Tell me how (if) it works!
Hey Zolan. Thanks for that and it really didn't work but what did happen is that I tweaked at the scripts a little bit for what you told me and it sorta worked but not really. If you give me your gamer tag and tell me when you will be online I'll show you what happens. (I can't really tell you at this second it would be easier to talk to you about it.)
Ahh okay. There's a couple of different things we could try but there should definitely be a way to make it work. GT: Yusgoda Beegbut I should be on sometime tonight, around 10 or so? If that time doesn't work just message me!
Yeah it doesn't work I'll add you to my freinds list and you can message me during 1:00 -2:00 pm about this and maybe I'll be on and we can talk.
http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Yusgoda Beegbut/video/18644163 Got it to work with minimum glitches. Once you see the top of the terminal turn red after being green (about 10 seconds in) that's when I pressed the switch. I didn't spend that much time on it so it can be improved. P.S. sorry it took me so long to get to this!
