Xandy and I talked about this already and I don't want to get into it again. But the hundreds of inputs per second is impressive for the reason that it's fast, not that it's inherently difficult. If you were to sit someone down and tell them to do those key bindings, he could do them with ease. Just not quickly. Because that's what it is, most of those style of games revolve around telling something to do something. Quite literally anything in this world can be done quickly, shuffling cards, typing, speaking fast. I don't think that makes it inherently skillful. That's opposed to quake, where the core of the game is to shoot someone. Shooting someone waking around at casual speeds is probably a difficult task for most people, I think the average person would have a hard time in an fps, couple that with the fact that everything at quake moves at light speed. It's a difficult concept made even more difficult through speed. As opposed to Starcraft which is an easy concept made difficult through speed
And then youre ignoring the whole strategic aspect of SC. Korea has built a massive infrastructure around Starcraft for over 15 years, and is still a televised esport. The fact that the game has been pushed to its limits for so long, and still produces a diverse meta is a testament to its skill, whereas Quake has been dead for a good amount of years.
Oh I know the mental skill is heads and shoulders above quake, I was talking strictly about the mechanical skill. Also worth noting that quake has been dead because no one plays it, not because the meta stagnated. SC has millions upon millions.
****, I'm in the block out stage of a map that uses ceiling teleporter type concept Really sick looking map though man. Hope one day you'll join us forgers again.
It is a pool-a-porter developed by a trash ben in Reach and stolen by a fat guy for a 1v1 map. I am happy it has returned.
Funny enough it was called Hazard. I made it in reach. Small 1v1. I figured you never saw it. I am just happy to see the concept return. I think you have done more justice to it than that map did. Forge was **** then.
PLS DUN TAKE DIS TEH RONG WEY Oh look, another forger threatening (or in this case actually doing it) to sell his xbox/halo because the game suxx and he wants more attention for a new map. Sorry to be that guy but am I the only one who sees this recurring pattern? :/ ----RANT COMPLETE---- This map looks hella cool, really like 3 things in particular (can't judge gameplay yet) Lighting around the cave/hall edges. Me gusta :3 Lovin' the blend from natural to artificial regarding the throne room The placement of the weapons. The death pits look pretty sweet but it's hard to tell over pictures/video, something that kinda needs to be experienced in-game.
I live to serve you, my Lord. It looks really cool from all the gameplay I've seen, I just don't know if I want to play video games anymore.
Like chunk said, you don't have to play them. I don't enjoy video games and I don't play them because of it. As for reflex, I've never even played a single game of it. I've watched enough to understand the mechanics to build around. The community is smaller but much MUCH better than halos. More accepting, more helpful, more appreciative and the game developers themselves are very passionate. On top of all that, They aren't under the influence of a hugely casual audience that ultimately ruin the game. Just saying, if you do continue, halo or not, I'll hope to see your skills put to good use!
