Who here likes Destiny? Recently, Bungie showed off their new dlc coming to Destiny this fall. It's suppose to be some big expansion. However, I remember them saying, "All future dlc's will be FREE due to microtransactions". Then 8 months ago it changed to free untill this fall. Now looking back, what "free dlc" did we get? We didn't get anything besides the april update, and that was hardly a dlc. Now with this "Rise of Iron" bs, they want us to pay even more for the same game again! I'm sorry, but I already payed over $200 on Destiny. This is from the guy who never payed for a single micro-transaction. This is Bungie and Activision being GREEDY. I will not be giving them a cent. If you get rise of iron, just keep in mind: (You payed full price, twice, for the same game already and don't you hesitate for a second that they won't make you do it again.)
Activi$ion has always been greedy, it just progressively gets worse. Buying any game with the Activi$ion logo automatically sets itself up to try to take more of your money. Currently they have a lottery-like system in Black Ops 3 and I'm sure Destiny will have more microtransactions added within the next year as well.
Angry Joe was right. Bungie forcefully pulled content from the base game to be sold to us AGAIN later on order from Activision. I still wonder why Bungie decided to leave the loving protection that Microsoft gave them, only to hurt their reputation and sell a shitty game. **** you Activision.
Why is there not an option in the poll that states, "No: Destiny, thanks to its publisher, is the epitome of pay walls and micro-transactions, so why should I give a damn when another timed DLC pack is finally released?"
I've gotten my fill of Destiny, but it will always have a special place in my heart. I put wayyy too many hours into that game, but man was it fun. Long live the Vault of Glass! Long live Praedyth's Revenge! Long live the Loot Cave!
I stopped playing Destiny about a year ago. But I loved it the first six months. Great memories but I was so done with that game after HoW. But I can imagine people still playing it and having fun. The Vault of Glass is one of the most brilliant multiplayer experiences I've had. The feeling of teamwork and achievement was great.
I'm not really sure why so many people complain about spending over 60 dollars on a game when they get over 100 hours of playtime out of it. When SNES games came out, they ranged from 60 - 70 dollars, and that was twenty years ago. If the game is fun enough to make you want to keep coming back, spending a dollar an hour doesn't seem too expensive. I'm sure the figure for destiny is more like hundreds of hours as well so its more like pennies an hour. We are lucky games still have that 60 price point. The only problem nowadays is that there is so much out there to play, but nothing feels original. Ive spent alot of time with Destiny and have enjoyed it very much. I will most likely be getting this. I am wondering if anything from this game is going to carry over to Destiny 2. I think that may be their next marketing strategy.
If you didn't enjoy the grind, I'm sure you wouldn't pay for the dlc. Working/Grinding for items makes attaining them feel that much more rewarding. The gameplay in Destiny was great, so the grind was always pretty fun. I always hated having to do patrol missions though.
I enjoyed the game very much. I endured the grind to get myself the best gear out there. I loved the raids and multiplayer. However, Bungie has this new thing now where they like to rip off older players. I remember they forced year 1 players to repurchase Dark Below and House of Wolves if they chose to upgrade to The Taken King. Bungie now has my mind set on me wasting unnecessary money for stuff I already have. They haven't announced anything yet, but I bet you Rise of Iron will only be sold in bundles.
I have sent a request to have this thread locked. As a future warning anything Destiny related will be locked. Unless it exclusively **** talks the game.
My thoughts as well. My bar for pricing on entertainment is set by movie theaters - I'll pay $12.50 for a mediocre summer movie - maybe 2 to 2.5 hours of entertainment. So if I think I can get $5 per hour of entertainment from something, I'll usually pay for it. (Recently graduating from college and dropping Magic: The Gathering gave me disposable income, so I will have the cash for it, as well.) Also, I'm not salty about microtransactions, having spent time with both League of Legends and a bad summer with Clash of Clans, I think both Destiny and Halo handle them on the responsible end of the microtransaction scale. Also, I'll say it - I'm just a sucker for fresh Bungie lore. Call it the Sword Logic, but Destiny's lore got a lot better with TTK, and I'm interested to see where they take the universe, Activison or no Activision.
Why does it need to get locked? I don't see any problems. It's in off topic. Is there a problem with Destiny in general? (There is but I'm talking about opinions of the game as a whole)
Hey, I got Destiny for free when I bought my Xbone, so I could pre-download the MCC. **** you Microsoft.
Haha, true. But I actually do love reading all the detailed grimiore cards that *other* people have found while playing. I like the story delivery system - it's a nice mix on the Terminals. The problem with it is that the lore junkie doesn't always want to grind the amount that's needed to obtain all the pieces. Also, making me go to an outside app is just rude.
