Competitive Halo feels so strange right now. There have been times in the past where one team has been clearly superior to the others. At the moment though, I seriously have no idea how to rank any of the other top 8 teams. There's just so little separating them from each other, and so much separating CLG from them.

I've always enjoyed having a dominant team, but the scene REALLY needs one or two teams to step up and at least be able to make CLG break a sweat. For pretty much the first time since 2004, competitive Halo isn't very interesting to me. I hope that changes soon.

I think what doesnt help is that the game is pretty much online only these days, with the odd four team lan here or there.

The teams are also too busy making team changes, hoping they get lucky, to challenge CLG, rather than nailing down strats to challenge CLG, hence the gap between the non-clg teams

Teams that have made the cut for the league shouldn't be allowed to make major changes until a considerable amount of time has passed. Absolute bullshit the way teams shuffle their rosters constantly.

Changing 25% of your roster is a major change.

1 change to your roster, and thats only in the first 3 weeks I believe. With the other teams unable to change too, its unlikely any team can make a change/upgrade at all.

Its perfectly fine (and a lot more restrictive than other current leagues) and prevents the mental roster switches as seen in the past.

If they can't make changes, then what was this post about?

I think online is part of the problem for me, but in a different way.

There have actually been more LAN's in the last 6 months or so than we usually saw when MLG were the competitive Halo overlords. So it's not so much the frequency of LAN's. To me, it's more about the level of importance given to online events. After years of seeing the sometimes enormous difference in performance for teams on LAN vs online, it truly pains me to see how much online results now impact the competitive scene. Even if they don't end up completely changing the final results, it just totally turns me off.

All the LANs have been very few teams in small studios. The same will apply to the finals of this season, and the fall season.

By then, thats a full year of Halo 5, with literally no LAN with a crowd of bigger than 200. The spectator experience has essentially been killed off, as well as the ability for teams of all skill levels to attend in-person. Nowhere near the spectacle of older days.

Very true. The have been numerous hints at open LAN's happening along-side Pro League. Hopefully that comes to fruition, because we need it if we want to maintain the AM scene.
