Did Bungie actually use in-game forge to create the default Foundry? I would have thought they'd use their own version of forge, with their own tools so they could position things exactly. I don't think they would have been stacking up boxes to make those walls straight. I may be wrong, did they use the version of forge which is in the game? Anyway, if people are that bothered, why don't we organise a little contest? The objective would be to make a map which could be the default map; taking up the whole space and is suitable for all gametypes. It would have to be balanced and fair for all teams/players.
Or we could just use one of the featured maps such as renegade (amazing map), but I'm not sure if that would cover anything but FFA.
I cant believe that no-one has mentioned that there are user made maps in matchmaking already, the gate is pretty much open (Onslaught & Amplified), so why don't bungie use a better version. Its probably like - we made it. It's not the best but its ours and we like it. I wonder if MLG employs anyone to make maps and test them - BEST JOB EVER
No there are the MLG ones,and thats only because they are maps built by MLG for the MLG playlist and only the MLG playlist. Bungie if i remember pretty much gave MLG the run of their playlist,meaning they can add whatever they want. What about us that dont enter as a full team or dont want to play with the idiots claiming how l337 they are?WE dont get user submitted maps in our games at all The gate is not "open" by a long shot. Yeah I guess I wasn't clear as to what I was saying by the gate is open. Of course your not going to see a Cosmic Rick map in the team slayer hopper. Obviously they're not going to put something that is user created in place of their maps that have hundreds of hours of play testing. Bungie have talked about a community playlist of forge maps in the past, and it must be nearly time to do it. The forge community is maturing now and you see maps that have been created with lots of testing and forethought. What I mean is that now that there are forged maps in a community playlist, why can't there be some more in other social playlists. And foundry in particular could be updated to v2 - for all playlists. It makes sense - no-one likes it as is, the only GT I've had a good game on it is KOTH. Other playlists like the infection hoppers could benefit from having some forge maps in them. Look at Standoff rocket race, what a piece of crap, I could make a better map than that in an hour, he didn't even use a canvas, lots of random objects lying around to make your goose flip. Little things like that could be made so much better by using forged maps.
When people say accomadate for all gametypes they don't have to cover infection. Imagine infection on foundry, makes me feel ill
Yes but there arent user made maps in the playlists. There are MLG made maps in the MLG set but thats only becuase MLG run that hopper and MLG itself is a testiment that bungie did things (in their eyes) wrong and as such wouldnt put bungie made maps in. Frankly i dont count rocket race maps as real maps,all they are is a bunch of escort points and gooses. Forget forge playlists,it would be really hard to pick up the maps since its such a vague playlist.I want "Minigames".Rocket race,cat'nmouse,splattertunnel and the millions of other honor rule free fun-filled maps and games could be included. Add other ones such as "Casual" doesnt count to xp,no ranks.Is effectively a custom game matchmade.Stick some fun gems in like pallet parade and such-the semi-competitive ones. Put forgehub,proforge and all the other sites like that in charge of selecting the maps and BAM bungie has little or no effort needed short of adding x map to the playlist.
I dont think Bungie is good at halo period. A few of them are, those who have more time for play. But most of them there work hard all day on the game, and than would u honestly wanna bring your work home and play with it?
Bungie do make good maps - with geometry, not objects. It's like why play with lego when you could build a house.
