Also, the lack of game types was a design choice for the streamlined esports experience that Quinn loves. Game types aren't a difficult thing to create.
With how often you say this almost word for word, you may as well put it in your signature so you don't have to post it again.
RADAR DOES NOT BELONG IN HALO BUT WE'RE AT LIKE WHAT TEN GAMES NOW AND IT'S STILL IN THE GODDAMN GAME SO APPPARENTLY THIS IS STILL AN UNPOPULAR OPINION
Lol, I like this analogy. And I agree that launch content, especially when compared against previous titles, was downright anemic. That being said, I still like this new release model (mvp, then periodic feature updates) much better than the waterfall approach Bungie took. Because even though it's unacceptable how long it's taken to get Infection, I didn't need to wait for 343 to get their **** together to enjoy Arena, Forge, or other previous updates. I would rather play my vanilla H5 right away, and then all the cool stuff that makes it stand out as a AAA franchise as soon as possible. Something like Warzone Firefight is a kickass update, and it's great to see one of my favorite console series picking up the PC content model that Doju points out has become standard. Put another way, frustration with 343 on my part comes with their development speed, not their release model. And I'm hoping for H6 that 343 gets a better idea of what the community considers an MVP so that the initial launch has the content it needs.
I suppose I can't tell you your opinion is wrong, but I don't understand the basis. The motion tracker was in Halo CE, so how can it "not belong in halo" ?. I'd accept "I don't like the radar in any halo game" but claiming it doesn't belong in a game that was born with it doesn't make sense to me. An analogy: someone born in a town won't be told "you dont belong here", but someone who moved to the town may very well hear that. The motion tracker wasn't implemented at some point during the halo series, it's always been there.
Once the Dubs playlist comes to MM, we can just blame the CCs and Forge Hub staff anyways, so dont worry
Ever since I started making competitive maps in Halo 3 I just had it burned into my head that fair balanced starts were essential. Wrong or not it seems like it's the most fair way to do it. I made asyms, I'll use Ephasus as an example. It was an asym map but I placed the main power weapons to where it took the same amount of time for each team to get there. & then maybe one side gets OS & the other gets camo but rushing one of those took you from getting rockets or snipe whatever I used. I even had the map used differently in different games & asym/symm gametypes they start in different places on the map but the power weapons were always equal travel distance from initial spawn.
Nah, I'm just gonna blame you for not having an xbox and being a judge. ****ing Gold Pro team dropping the ball here.
Im currently judging the top 4 right now just from screenshots Box wise, time getting my site and app ready for launch takes up my time at the moment along with paying London priced rent. Should be getting that resolved pretty soon though.
It just changes the flow. You know that feeling when you walk into an area and see a red blip on your radar and suddenly it disappears. You're obviously going to play differently, you're going to be more passive and cautious because you know there's an enemy. THE SAME GOES FOR FOOTSTEPS 343. If I can hear your footsteps on the other side of a wall it's kind of the same as radar, and to make it worse maybe I can hear it better than you can because I have a better headset. Removing this makes it an even playing field and you don't have to constantly worry if you're feet are too loud. I think H3 had a great balance of footstep audio. If you remove radar, you remove most of these hiccups in gameplay, no more slow paced scenarios where someone is waiting for the other guy on radar to make the first move. Removing radar essentially makes Halo play better to some people.
That's a perfectly valid point. I wasn't really arguing against the opinion for or against radar but rather just being pedantic about the way Goat worded it. You can dislike radar all you want, but it certainly does belong in halo. The 'hiccups' your describing are some of the moments that separate halo from other FPSs.
I can't speak for him but competitive Halo needs no radar. Well, that used to be the case anyway. Though with 343 in charge everything is going ass backwards
I love how Bungie said later in H2's life that SMG starts were a mistake, but with H2A 343 said "nah dude, **** that".
