In my map, there is a medium sized space with a very small amount of outside light. I am having a lot of trouble lighting it in a way that seems practical and could use some assistance. Please message me on XBL (Spaz5991) if you would be willing to help.
What is your object count. I cannot get on xbox so I will try to help through this thread. First, make sure light-baking is completely off. Next block the light source using the largest terrain ramps. Turn these off as well. It takes a few of them. Finally, use invisible lights. Make sure they are set to spot. Maximize size angle and increase the length to something over 130. The length depends on the map. Adjust brightness and color. This is personal preference. Though sometimes you need to use a gray for lighting so a spot is fixed without it being brighter than you want. I did this on a corner of cobalt because it required to bright of a white light. Keep the fall off ratio under 7 and preferably 5 or lower. This way you don't get the nasty circle over lap you would normally get. It is a struggle. This technique works best on indoor maps. Out door map tend to take to many lights and frame drops often become a serious issue. Your map sounds like it will be fine though because the Orxgen had a similar set-up and it worked fine for that map.
Thank you. I'll try it. If there comes a time when you can get on xbox or you know someone else who would be able to take a look at it, please let me know.
I should be back on by next weekend so send me a message so I know who you are because I have like 20 friend requests a day.
