YEKKOU'S MASSIVE WIP THREAD Hey, so I wanted to create a thread to show the progress of some maps that I have built up inspired by the Creative Force thread. I wish I had the time for some slick looking graphics for my photos, but I don't ): I was hoping this would give me some incentive and accountability to finish some of these maps since a lot of them just sit unfinished and collect dust. Which sucks. It's my goal in life to post at least one map to good ol' 4chub in this generation of H5. Anyways, let's get started. EMBERS (4v4) Progress: Alpha An inverse symmetrical map based on an old Covenant-like structure uncovered by the UNSC in a hollow on the side of a mountain. This one still needs testing (a similar theme with all these maps). MINUS (8V8) Progress: Alpha A symmetrical BTB map based off the level The Storm from Halo 3's campaign, I wanted the majority of the map to be terrain and have a lot of vehicle focus, BUT I also wanted to make sure it wasn't incredibly hard for infantry. Needs some testing. YEN (4V4) Progress: Beta An Asymmetric map and probably the one everyone's sick of seeing. Yen is based off of a section from Mirror's Edge and built with some creative liberty. Currently there are some framerate issues that I'm working with, but overall it's close to done. KIN (4V4 Grifball) Progress: Beta An aesthetic map converted into a Grifball court with the help of @NOKYARD. The temple featured in this map is a temple located in Kyoto, Japan by the name of Kinkaku-Ji. There's a few tweaks, but it's pretty much playable. KUMO (4V4) Progress: Alpha Another Mirror's Edge based level. This one I'm actually planning on redesigning to be asymmetric as opposed to it's symmetric design right now. This is definitely the aesthetic theme however. ONLY MAN Progress: Alpha An infection map that was one of my first project that never was completed due to being inexperienced with H5 forge and lack of gametype ): But with hints of infection, I'd like to get this going again. YESTERDAY (4v4) Progress: Alpha Another yellow themed asymmetric map. This map has progressed a lot, but still needs heavy testing. Had some great suggestions from @Demption and @SaltyKoala. It has a ghost on it that can travel through the entire map (for now, subject to change). It had a very eerie and abandoned feeling, so I called it Yesterday hinting to before a calamity of sorts. Tsavo (8v8) Progress: Alpha Obviously based off Tsavo Highway from Halo 3. This is an asymmetric BTB map that rounds a big mountain. There are sections that are based off of parts of the campaign level and pretty much the whole map is susceptible to change. The basic idea of it is down. The main focus is a wide spread large scale strongholds where you would have to control a chunk of the map. --------------- If you feel so inclined to give a shout out for a map that you like, do it. I'm HOPING to finish all of these to get them out and playable for you guys! Thanks for taking a looky here. Hope to show you guys some progress soon!
These look amazing and you're a terrible person, go away forever, now get over here and love me! *collapses in a heap crying*
I was disappointed the Grifball map wasn't submitted in time for the recent update. Hopefully, next time?
I really wanted to! Just didn't have the time before the contest finished :/ I'll get it done for next time. And we'll have better looking trees! Lighting is better @purely fat helped me out a bit, but I'm gonna start from scratch again to make it more asymmetrical.
@Yekkou this is damn good stuff man. Where have you been all our lives? And you sir inspire Creative Force.
That Grifball map looks amazing. I really like the ability to hop onto ledges and noticed that you only have thin wooden rails surrounding the space. Any way you could add some kind of ledge to that map that fits the theme?
He adjusted the rails to fit the current Grifball spec. This is the other Japanese themed court i mentioned while we were looking at Grifball Temple.
Haha thanks man, right back at ya. Let's do a co-forge sometime Thanks War, the railings have been adjusted and raised and changed a bit to meet specs for G-ball. There's no jump start as of yet though! Which I do need to ask about. Hey @NOKYARD, how neccessary are running starts for G-Ball?
Funny story @Randy 355 was talking about your expertise with your Grifball court and may be looking for your assistance in the near future. He is acting as Designer for his map (Zen) so, per Creative Force process, he is looking for a Developer to help him art it up. We try to make every piece of content have at least two people invested in it. We do that by having one person on each project work the layout/gameplay and the other work the structure/art. They both help with all aspects, it just helps to build a shared ownership of projects.
Not at all necessary considering how they are prone to failure in the Matchmaking environment. Plus, standing starts better suit the environment.
I'd definitely be down for an art up. Add me my GT (same as user) and I'll be glad to help. Sounds like a lot of fun. Alright, then that takes completion to 95% haha. I want to replace some trees with the new ones that are coming out. Then I just have to address any framerate issues.
Let me know if any of these make it to the point you want to test them out. I've got a lobby that dishes out tons of feedback for maps and stuff. we would love to play these!
