I'll keep it short; I recently discovered a fan game creation tool for Pokémon games with RPG Maker XP. Having grown bored of forge, I'm considering taking a stable at making a Pokemon game. Anyone else have interest in this? The program is 2D based and contains all possible content up through generation 5. It also allows for the creation of new assets, whether it be art, pokemon, or even mechanics. The possibilities with it are crazy!
I spent a lot of time playing fan made pokemon games, some of them are arguably a lot more fun than the main games. Good luck If you need ideas, Pokemon Reborn is by far the best fanmade game in my opinion. Amethyst (made it) added in a lot of new mechanics, is still releasing new episodes currently as far as I know, and managed to make the base game pretty difficult even for competitive battlers.
Hmm, sounds pretty interesting. Is RPXM in any way related to the RPG Maker Ace line of things, or is it Pokemon specific?
I got my start in design editing sprite sheets. Always wanted to mess around with one of these, just never had enough content/story to start something or justify buying the software. Depending on where you go with it, you could count me as a tentative collaborator, would be loads of fun to work on.
Reborn is not a rom hack, although I don't know if it was made with RMXP here's its site, it's pretty big. I don't know if it will say what was used to make it anywhere. http://www.pokemonreborn.com/ Edit: Found it "Pokemon Reborn iscreated using RPG Maker XP and the Pokemon Essentials Starter Kit."
I just have requests if that is all right? Most of it has to do with falling through floors to lower levels and a secret snorlax in every town.
The Amethyst I was referring to is the (online) name of the girl who was the lead in making Reborn I don't know about a Pokemon Amethyst, but you are probably right
I've got a bunch of the "hacks" as Emulator Roms, lots of fun to be had. I forget most of the names though.
I was heavy into Pokemon fan games a couple years back. I delved into rom hacking myself before moving onto RXMP. I had some pretty ambitious plans for a game, but it never panned out. It takes some dedication, that's for sure. You have anything planned out yet?
Would like to do a pre-red/blue Kanto region story chronicling the rivalry between the psychic and fighting gyms in Saffron, with a side plot revolving around Bill, Giovani, Blain, and Fuji creating Mewtwo. --- Double Post Merged, Mar 23, 2016 --- Every town. And each Snorlax is a unique pokemon. --- Double Post Merged, Mar 23, 2016 --- I was into NES rom hacking wayyyyy back in the day with Metedit, the metroid hack tool. MetroidDB was actually the first forum I had ever joined.
I was into making Pokemon sprites ages ago, but I was never particularly good at it. Seems like a fun project.
just give each snorlax a unique move set. Only have one that has the typical snorlax set and have it be level 100
the "legendary" pokemon would be the normal snorlax and the three roaming legendaries would be snorlaxes that are just rolling in their sleep.
I cannot stress this enough: http://pokemon.alexonsager.net/ Because this kind of thing: http://pokemon.alexonsager.net/150/146
