Rotation Reset Glitch Temporary Solution This is from one of our team members. We aren't aware of anyone figuring this out already or not. Here is his write up that he did within our team boards. Thanks for taking a look at this. -Nitro Caustic Kirby (JamesDF) found the source to the rotation bug which means we now have a solution to prevent it until it gets patched! The Problem: The glitch stems from the first object selected in a group. If the first object in a multi select is never rotated, meaning it's in it default orientation, then all other objects will reset their orientation when a menu is opened. The Solution: First, select an object that you know has been rotated in some way, then make the rest of your selections. Entering a menu will no longer cause the objects to reset their rotation. Note: If at any time you deselect your first object, the game will consider another of your selected objects as the new first object. If it happens to select a piece set to the default rotation, opening the menu will reset the rotation of all selected objects. Not all pieces if left at their original rotation and selected first will cause others to rotate in multiselections. This has been tested in several scenarios and, so far, holds true. Let me or anyone else in Creative Force know if you find the glitch happening elsewhere so we can add to our relevant bug reporting. VIDEO
@Aschur no even if you rotate it then rotate it back to its original position its will still cause the glitch you NEED to select a rotated piece not in a default rotation.
I just tried it with a 2x2x2, leaving it at it's original rotation and you're right @no god anywhere, the pieces wont rotate if selecting the 2x2x2 first. It seems that not every piece causes the bug because I then tried some other primitives and they didn't cause a multiselect group to rotate either. The workaround does work however, you just happened to be using an anchor piece that didn't cause the glitch. It may not be 100% though. Earlier tonight I did have one rotated piece still cause others to rotate, but I couldn't replicate it.
Regardless, this bug really needs to get fixed. There's been way too many times where I've had to reload a map because I grabbed a bunch of objects and forgot about the glitch until it was too late. I'd also forgotten the shortcut for grouping on the D pad, so that should help out. Thanks @Xandrith
The 2x2x2 you are spawning could be auto rotated based on the direction you are looking when creating it. You would need to reset its rotation and then rotate it to be sure. It would be better to test it with a block that is not the same dimensions when rotated
@Xandrith When I see / hear people using the menu like scrolling down to group, I find it odd. I honestly took some time in the beginning to learn as many shortcuts as possible. And this one is quite possibly my most-used one. At first it was clonky feeling, but now all of the Dpad shortcuts are surprisingly fluid.
The bug happens when the rotations (below the reticle) are greater than 180° or below -180° the game snaps them to a default (not 0°) of -180° the best way to avoid this is to manually rotate objects in the menu, however when using multi-selecting, grouped or welded objects do not display the correct values and will shift regardless of fixing the rotation manually.
