With all the negativity going around lately, I think we should name our favorite forgers and what we like about their style/maps. You know, positive vibes. I'll go first. My favorite forger is a Chunk. I really appreciate his ability to build extremely different maps. I myself find it very hard to deviate from "xandrith maps" let alone make it play well. He also makes some of the few maps I actually want to play outside of testing. Anyways, if you don't want to post, just listen to this;
I don't have one favorite, but El Trocity, The 0micron, PA1NTS and Home World Hero (Insanmiac) have been long time friends whom I greatly respect and whose work I always take great interest in. They all have incredible talent and dedication and they know how to make a balanced and refreshing map. But other than these Infection guys, I can appreciate any good forger in any branch of maps. Dat song tho <3
In terms of diverse designs, always enjoyed @WaiHo s work but he always bloody moves onto the next map rather than spend a good amount of time refining designs. I keep seeing people that its full of negativity here, forge community is negative at the moment etc etc, forge and forge hub is going through a massive boom period at the moment. Really find it odd every time I see
Forgehub is booming because of all of the newcomers, but the people who were already here are generally salty. Like me.
Could not disagree any more. Community is much more positive, active and social than its been in at least 3 years, and the faces I see posting/in the various groups are still mostly familiar faces
I got into forge around late Reach primarily because of ColKeller's work on 'Retroactive'. There was something about the amount of time he devoted to a single project that interested me. Tirelessly coming up with revisions to his design over the course of many years and taking community feedback into account. Whether or not he is my favorite forger, he is most certainly one of my greatest inspirations. Once I got into forge and explored more of its territory, I discovered Nexn; one of the most thought provoking and creative designers. I admired all of his works even his less popular maps, white out and pitfall Nexn made a point to push against the grain and to pursue design concepts out of the pure spirit of exploration. If I could choose to be any designer, it would probably be him. I should also mention Solo. I don't think our community will see a greater or more prolific small scale designer any time soon.
I agree that this community has been more than just positive as of late. Since I came back last year before H5, this community has been much more welcoming and much more supportive of everyone. I really appreciate the work that the current staff has put in and I applaud them. Yeah I don't have a single favorite, as I'm still blown away by a ton of individuals. @A 3 Legged Goat , Nexn, @Blaze, @black picture, @Res, @darkprince909, @MythicFritz, AtlasIsShruggin, @Demption, @CommanderColson, and many more that I can't think of off of the top of my head. There is a ton of talent around these parts and I love watching everyone's designs and art grow. Keep up the great work guys... seriously. I can't tell you how many times my jaw has dropped this game. Their part of the reason I don't really forge anymore because now it is just depressing to be so out classed. lol...
I wouldn't say I have a 'favorite'. There are probably around 10 forgers that I'd have to group together, several of which have already been mentioned. Top 3 for me would be: Xandrith - Because I like 'Xandrith Maps' Purely Fat - Because of the sheer volume of quality work. Salty - Because of the vast variety of map styles and approaches.
On a serious note, I have not been around for that long so judging off h2a I would say acorn,salty, and blaze
One thread does not equal community. If you look hard enough for negativity you'll eventually find it
The second two chunks of this summarize my thoughts. Nexn and Solo consistently amaze(d) me. Tyrant (purely fat) is another favorite jus the cause he never misses his mark and the speed at which he pumps out maps is incredible.
