I personally lost interest in Halo after CEA in 2011. If it wasn't for Forge, other games would occupy my free time.

No, I'm good. Do you like giving 343 more of your money every time they release a damaged sequel to your favorite game franchise? How about for a game that doesn't work at launch nor a year and a half later?

I'm calm, seriously. I type angry because it's the only way to get across to people on forums.

Frankly I just don't see a future for the series. The Halo universe is not compelling enough to tell decades worth of stories in, and the gameplay is not malleable enough to support games for that long either. This isn't Star Wars, as much as Microsoft wants it to be.

Sometimes the stars that shine the brightest burn out the fastest. I'd go as far to say Halo was a fad, occurring at the right place and the right time to fill a void that wasn't being filled. It can absolutely still exist today but all this overexposure does is pollute the brand, especially when the main products launch in the condition the last few titles have.

The best direction for the mainline series to go is to make it self sufficient. Prioritize custom content with community driven multiplayer complimented by PC integrated Forge and full blown AI scripting for cooperative modes. Market the game has "Minecraft with Guns". The extended universe stuff can stay as an accessory to that, but the mainline games are otherwise going to continue losing their pull, especially if they continue with this eSports nonsense and silly story arc. The games aren't even about the ****ing Halo rings anymore.

He's not calm. Don't listen to his lies! He's raging on that Shire weed. Dude is cray. :schnitzel: :kappa:

I'm fine with the $60 I threw at H5. What I'm not fine with is the $300+ I threw down for TMCC.

This is why I said it'd be more helpful to describe what he meant by asymmetrical.

The Pit plays asymmetrical just like the other maps I mentioned do. Sword side isn't perfectly balanced with long hall.

You also have to look at the fact that Halo MCC and Halo 5 have came out relatively early in the Xbox One's life span. Halo 3, Reach and 4 came out like 8+ years into the 360's lifecycle. And in the case of Halo 3, Cod and Battlefield were just making their first steps into gamers minds. There wasn't really other options for online multiplayer shooters, obviously creating huge sales for H3. Reach had good sales because of the good reception of H3, and the hype revolving around Bungie's last Halo. Halo CEA came out and put a bad taste about 343 in everyones mouth because of its failure to include updated online CE multiplayer. Flash forward to Halo 4, that bad taste, as well as the early footage, indicated that 343 didn't know how to make an online Halo experience, and has taken all of the bad aspects of Reach and cranked them to 10. Now, with Halo 5, trust in 343 and the Halo brand is gone, even if they made a (in my opinion) good, next gen Halo. That, added with the fact that we are only like 3 years into the Xbox One lifecycle, can attribute to poor sales.

Oh, and I liked Halo 4's story, but maybe because I was "salty koalaed" the whole time I played through the campaign.

8 years into the 360 life span the Xbox one came out. So your time frame is a little skewed. You're not necessarily wrong about your claims though.

I think the games that came out surrounding halo 3/reach were infinitely better and more deserving of attention compared to the games that came out around halo 4 and 5. Cod 4 and mw2 were its best iterations, battlefield bad company 2, battlefield 3, oblivion, skyrim, gears 1 and 2, fable, left 4 dead, gta 4, the list goes on. The rest of the game industry had much better games back then, and like I already said. The Xbox one has outsold the 360 relative to the same frame in its own life cycle. So I don't buy that argument.

Is this really your official response to the book Multi just posted? If so that says it all. You can learn ALL of this information/facts and sweep them under the rug as if it was not true and personally question his mentality? That in all honesty is pathetic. It's not funny or cute, it is pathetic. There is so much more he could have said that points out how terrible 343 is compared to Bungie for Halo, but he didn't. (I will)

    • Halo 3 launched with 9 Base Gametypes. Of those 9 we had subcategories like 1 flag, lowball, escort etc. collectively, Halo 3 launched with 36 developer made game types. Not to mention the community created ones.
    • Halo 5 launched with 3 Base game types. collectively, Halo 5 launched with a whopping 8 total.
This means Halo 5 launched with less game types in TOTAL than Halo 3 had base level game types...

    • Halo 3/Reach UI showed any sort of information you may have about the game built in. (Population, Medals, Files, etc.)
    • Halo 5 UI does not show population, (for a reason) does not show medals, (for no reason) doesn't even sort unlockables alphabetically or by rarity. (Do you enjoy jamming your stick to the right and holding for 30 seconds before viewing your newest unlock?) You can't even see gamertags, ranks, stats, or mute in pre-game lobbies. These are the mistakes of the incompetent.)
    • Halo 3 had a working online/in-game file share system. AND Bungie Favorites!
    • Halo Reach had an in-game file browser so you never had to leave the game to get ANYONES maps, game types, or screenshots.
    • Halo 5 has no online functions for file sharing and requires you to find peoples gamertags, add them first, quit their build, restart the game, go to friends roster, look through unfinished maps before finding the right one, and THEN downloading. (Oh and they made "343 favorites" which is not an in-game function but rather another gamertag you have to add...)
    • Halo 3 armour was unlocked by doing creative things in game.
    • Halo Reach allowed you to spend your points on whatever you wanted to unlock your favorite gear first.
    • Halo 5 is completely randomized (which it's not btw, on multiple occasions I unlock the exact same two items as someone else when we open packs together, forcing you to unlock bad stuff first, forcing you to play more.)
    • Halo 3 launched with 11 developer maps, and had 4 map packs to add to the game collectively equalling 24!
    • Halo 5 launched with 8 developer maps, and of those maps 2 were recycled from another. The rest were poorly crafted forge maps specifically made for a game type that nobody likes.

I could keep going but I don't want to sit here for 2 more hours proving to someone 343 has done nothing right for this franchise since takeover, especially when they disregard hard evidence and personally insult the person providing said evidence. Lastly, this post isn't me backing up Multi because we're friends (because I'm assuming that was your "GO TO move" but rather this is accepting the truth for what it is. I cannot witness this level of arrogance and stand by... Me and multi have fought about these things before to which I was still somewhat defending 343 through Halo 4 because it took baby steps in the right direction after the horrors that were Reach. However, after being horribly let down by MCC (which is still completely broken well over a year after release) I was looking towards Halo 5 after enjoying the beta. Halo 5 releases and is NOTHING like the beta. ANOTHER HUGE letdown from 343. Not only was the gameplay, aiming, mechanics and more much WORSE than before, but the game didn't even launch with forge, game types, or enough maps!

But besides, in-game physics, aiming, art style, writing, lore, split screen, sales, population, customization, and content... 343 is doing great!

Look, I love Halo, it is the reason I own an Xbox. It always has been. But you have to understand that the game is a hollow shell of what it once was. I'm actually going to be making a video series of how Halo can improve soon. Because I'm passionate about Halo and understand what made it so great in the past. I'm currently working on a script for a video about how Halo 6, if done exactly right, can redeem the franchise. (this post belongs here because I mention what i'm working on as well :))
