Made a new account with my GT instead of my real name. My older posts in here were under the name, Eric Metzler. Later today I should be posting multiple wip pictures for multiple maps!
Umm actually no. This is one of the dumbest posts I've read lol they are actually polygons. Someone inspected the game code and they have found many primitives are using upwards of 1000 polygons. They are clearly not images, what are u smoking?
I sense a new forge competition! Pick a photograph and recreate it in forge as best you can. Winner gets their work framed to hang on the wall?
Where is this code then forge god? Who is this apparent someone mighty forge god? How do we see the designs on the objects without images great forge god, tell meeeee! I want to learn... If there was a middle finger emoji it would've been placed after that by the way.
And upwards to 1000 polygons? On ****ing primitives? What are you smoking? How in the ****?? If the rounded edges were possibly made up of several polygons (I'd be very surprised) then I could see them being a higher number of polygons, but 1000. This certain someone must be a real ****in winner! The ring pieces and large cylinder pieces, those could definitely be near 1000, but trapezoid, Triangle, and blocks...yeah, no...
I will say that the details on the primitives (blocks at least) are definitely not just a texture or "skin" if you will. There are some that are obviously notched out & you can see that on the corners.
Yes! Exactly! Not all objects are like that but some are literally just a skin or texture. And you can prove it with magnets or even trying to shoot past those hidden edges. Some of the blocks are literally just blocks with hidden edges so that the forger still has the choice of a flat side with sharp edges or a flat side with rounded edges.
Salty would probably know better than most, since he worked almost exclusively with modded content in some of the previous Halo games. I think he's citing evidence from previous games however, rather than directly from H5. @lordcrusnik1986 can probably shed some light on the subject.
Um yes lt sounds unbeleiveable but its true hahahaha I'll link u after I'm off work. Get ready to get wrecked kid.
If I get wrecked then I'd be happy as hell! But I have a feeling we are both right in some points. Because even with the natural pieces, you are standing on its 3D structure, and yet it looks like your spartan is standing inches above the rocks surface. Yes they may have a lot of polygons, but there are some we just don't see because of the textures and skins. It's the same with some of the curved edges on primitive blocks. Not All, but on some. I was wrong about the divets. Put a 32x32x2 against a 32x32x2 and there is a square hole between them. You can actually shoot through it. Which just surprised the **** outta me. But I'm still not convinced about some of the rounded edges. If you prove that wrong, I will probably thank you....A lot..
You need to know the difference between the geometry that you see and the collision geometry. There would only be 6 facets on the rectangular primitives. Where you are seeing bullets and grenades stop are considered solid by that part of the engine, but are not actually solid visually. The fact that you made no reference to this relationship and responded in a way that suggested you had no inkling of its existence recuses your opinion from merit. Further, your vitriolic response to someone that has much more clout in the community reeks of an even worse sort of ignorance.
Collison boundaries are way different than polygons on the actual objects geo. The fact you don't know the difference is laughable lol
He already took care of it. Thank you for that though. If he wouldn't have already done it, then it would love helped greatly! --- Double Post Merged, Mar 11, 2016 --- I never knew that, so thanks for that fact, but all the big words to try and make yourself look good just makes you appear to be the douche. Keep it simple. This is a forum not a damn SAT.
