What Are You Working On?

    I posted a teaser pic a while back, but now that there's a WIP thread for Avenue, I made a 4 minute run-through of the iterations I took to get there.

    And, coming from Goat's unpopular opinion thread, someone mentioned they weren't a fan of people posting pics without intention of taking feedback... which I feel my teaser pic kinda fell in that category. So this is like a month and a half of WAYWO, but posted all at once. I'd love to hear feedback, as I think Breakout designs are still pretty new and there's a lot of different ideas/preferences I'd like to learn from.

    Also, planning on sharing more in the future while I'm actually working on it, so I can get feedback earlier.

    (Feel free to mute my voice if you decide to watch this, I won't be offended =P)

    As much as I think the design would work, I don't know if I want to make a symmetrical map.

    out of curiosity, does anyone know why 3v3 Halo seems so weird? I don't think we've ever had a 3v3 playlist other than multi team.

    Dude. Please don't listen to that nonsense. I personally love coming into the WAYWO thread and seeing other people post pics of their work... One might even say I like seeing them... so much so I usually give them a like. :D

    But seriously, it's freaking inspirational to see sexy images of fellow forgers projects, not only that but it can be helpful to the forger posting them as well. People are visual in nature and seeing an image or especially a video can be super helpful in diagnosing issues and getting a feel for a map.

    Especially when people go above and beyond like you did and you get to see other peoples design process or their thoughts behind their decisions. That type of stuff I think is severely lacking or when it comes it takes too long to get from point "A" to point "B"

    But when more people do it, more ideas flow and inspiration transfers, and learning happens and I'm typing way too much.


    I want to understand what's happening here, but I don't.

    Call me a nerd, or a try hard forger, but I find this **** interesting. Seeing other forgers solve creative problems helps me fine tune my creative problem solving process. Hearing people talk about design, even when it's two different or opposing viewpoints on the subject helps me learn things. That's how I grow. :forge:

    it is because teamwork in halo is very much buddy oriented and 3v3 leaves an odd man out. That is also why I like to make the first tests on my 1v1 and 2v2 maps a 3 person ffa because someone usually always experiences the worst the map will bring through this and you can get a feel for bad spawns and the troll of the map and fix stuff before you even play a custom for what the map was made for. I also think and this is opinion that odd number team systems only work well in class based shooters.

    I am the same way... Thats why I have been streaming my forge sessions with other forgers to talk about design and other fun things also. Yesterday Me and Goat hammered on his map scar. I would love to start doing this more if people are intrested.

    Because my passion lies in level design, not forge. I'm accustomed to Murder Miners simple editor now, so the creation process is much less tedious for me than forge.

    Also, while the competitive population is very small, they are also very dedicated. It's very rare to find a community where the competitive crowd is so open to new maps.


    Why not?

    If your passion lies in level design why don't you just use actual map creating software?

    For the same reason I don't forge: It's a tedious process.

    I have spent some time learning how to use the software, but I haven't given it a try yet.
